Got to thinking...We have a couple of really powerful schools around here that are perennial playoff teams...I went to watch one of teams practice and the coach mentioned to me me how sloppy they looked because they were changing things for the playoffs...the other team was possibly going to play a flexbone team so the coach came to our school and we talked flexbone...they are a 50 team that all of a sudden said they wanted to play 4-3..another coach who is on th is board( an under guy) wrote me and told me he was putting in the 46 defense for the playoffs because they are playing a running team

Never anything like THAT. If you've gotten to the playoffs, you've gotten there because you're good at what you do.
We'll make modifications or adjustments on both sides of the ball. Maybe on D we add a stunt or make a personnel adjustment. On O maybe we add a play or two into one of our key series...but we never wholesale change anything.

we may get out-coached ... we try to make sure it isn't self-inflicted

We wouldn't make any drastic changes. Offensively we'd hardly make any changes at all. Defensively we'd only make the same adjustments that we'd normally make week to week. We've been around long enough to have tried the "new stuff" route and it wasn't pretty.

teams that win in the playoffs make less mistakes. tough to make less mistakes when you are doing something that is different or new.

The biggest thing that we have changed for playoffs in the past is number of 2 way reps that we are willing to give our studs. We have always tried to have as few 2 ways players as possible. We may put our stud LB in on offense or our QB in on defense at key points of the game. By the time we get to playoffs our best players are going to be on the field as much as possible.

The only things we may do differently is that we rep more our trick plays...
