I was just wondering about the size of the weight room which other coaches have at their school. What are the dimensions of your weight room and how many kids do you have at your school? I just wanted to see how our weight room compares to some other schools around the nation. We have just over 900 sq ft. and we have around 3000 kids.

We have about 400 kids in our school. Weight room is tiny. Probably 50 feet long and 10 feet wide. It is on the balcony of our gym. Piece of crap, really. Last year the school had a building that was going to be built for weights around $100,000. $75,000 was already donated when they proposed it....sounds great, right. School Board turned it down

Ours is roughly 900 sq. ft. 1800 kids in school.
So you lost a $75,000 donation? That's crazy man.

Yeah...it sucks. Especially, since we are not allowed to turn on the radio (or talk...or do anything that makes noise), while we are lifting, because the basketball team practices beneath us.
The people who made the donations are planning on putting a building at the park now. They are planning on using it for Jr. Wrestling and Softball.
I think our school thought they could hold out and get the building built after they did a few other projects and it looks like now we won't get it at all.

Did the school board turn it down or the wonderful Bobby V coachf? I didn't know the board had turned it down. That REALLY sucks if they did.

We have about 270 kids in the school and our weight room is about 54' X 54'. For a school our size, I think we have a great facility.

Our new weightroom/training facility was just finished 2 weeks ago. The final cost was $550,000 (all private donation) for a rural, public HS in a very poor area with only 700 students. Our weightroom is 55' x 75'. We purchased close to $45,000 worth of equipment. We have 8 half racks w/ benches and chin/dip attachment. We have 8 platforms, 8 glute/hams, new bumpers, bars, kettlebells, plates, and dumbells. We have an indoor practice area that measures 125' v 75'. We have Fieldturf laid down, 2 full locker rooms with private showers, a new office, and a storage area 15' x 30'. Looking forward to snow/rain so that we can practice inside.

Are they going to have a weightroom in it too, or is just going to be wrestling/softball? A new weight room would be nice, but a major pain to got that far to use it. I mean, you couldn't build it near the school. There just isn't enough room there.

Wrestling/softball only with a couple of restrooms. It looks like a new weight room is way, way down the road.

It will never happen because very few people have any vision whatsoever of any progression in that community. If things stay the same forever people there would be more than happy to let it happen. I mean they are already the height of American civilization after all.

I am not very good at judging deminsions but our weightroom is brand new and the nicest facility in a rural school that was 1st built in 1928. Our weightroom has 15 racks complete with platforms and rubber weights for cleans. We have a whole mess of dumbells and other machines as well. Our school population is around 2150 and our football team has app. 125 participants fresh-senior. I am working on getting that number up.
