After reading some posts here I started thinking how different issues face different schools based on their student population. Thought I'd write up this poll just to see where everyone is coming from.

I think another interesting thing would be is to see what types of kids and demographics everyone on here has! I know our staff would love to sit down and talk about successful things schools like ours have done, instead of the private school that recruits and gets the best kids so it doesn't matter what is done they are successful.

We have around 110.. had all but 10 boys in the high school out for football this year. So out of 110 students we only have 46 boys in grades 9-12th.
Out of those 10, I would say 4 of them could have really helped us.

About 1300. We only had about 80 out for football. Hopefully we can get over 100 out next year.

We have roughly 1300, but we only had 60 dress varsity at an inner city school but I would consider us as a rather diverse school. We have a decent 1st generation population who's culture would never consider playing football and we have a very transient population between high schools in the district which affects our possible "playing body." As a matter of fact, my first 9th grade class were seniors this past year, we had 8 former starters from that season starting somewhere else this year, doesn't really apply to the question but I found it interesting/frustrating.

ONLY 60?!?! we got 1800 and suited 45 for the varsity season. Im at an upper middle class suburb school, I've been at the inner city schools and overall its easier here but we got our own set of problems. Every year we have 90+ on the frosh squad, but less than 1/3 stick around for the next year. There is an atmosphere of helicopter parenting and coddling that goes on here. Luckily, those who stay are extremely talented and we keep on winning; but if our school pop grows anymore we'd need to better fight that attrition to stay successful.

We are around 600 kids, started with 58 kids this year. I'm interested to hear the difference in sizes of schools in leagues. We range from 520-1100.

Our enrollment in February (which is used for playoffs) was 471. Principal says were closer to 450 now.
Our league has three divisions. We are the smallest in ours. Range is 471-635. We were also the smallest to qualify for playoffs in our classification (D-5 out of eight).
We had 22 Varsity players, 23 JVs (Sophomores), 19 Freshmen for 64 total.

The AHSAA just released new enrollment numbers and classifications/regions yesterday.
We moved from 2A to 3A (out of 6 classes) with an enrollment # (next years 10th through 12th grades) of 247.05. And that is with a 1.35 multiplier per kid, because we are a private school.

About 475 in the school total....220 boys Div 4 out of 6 in Ohio...6 is smallest, 1 is biggest
We had around 65 (9-12) that made the end of the year, down from over 100 in the late 90s early 2000s when we were winning state championships.

Obviously the community and general atmosphere of your players, as well as your off season program, contribute to the quality you suit up. But all things being equal if you have 350 in your school and I have 3,500 then I will have more better players. If in a pool of 350 their are 2 solid players then you will have 2 on your team, and I will have 20. Not an insult of anyone's team or players just numbers. On a side note, I'm shocked how many people coach at schools of under 500. I guess I lived and coached my whole life in either So Cal or suburban Phoenix; so other than the occasional small parochial school most schools are 1,500-2,500.

Correct, our region teams have amazing depth, i.e., they got D-1 players riding the bench. we have about 60 9th graders and 60 on the higher levels. We have some kids going both ways, we would like to increase our #'s and we are moving towards 2-platoon next season.

Unless I'm at a private school and have handpicked my 350! ;D

we have 165 students 9-12. We had 27 players this year in the program. That normal is not htat be of an issue, we played in the state championship two years ago with 28 players. However, this season we were hit hard by injuries. We lost 9 players by the end of the season, six were two way starters. Needless to say, we had several freshmen starting and a very rough season. We will just keep working and take the field with who we have next season. Our tradition is just too strong to let low numbers get us down.

I am envious of the numbers I see. We had 21 kids on our Varsity roster 9th-12th grade last year. We have 13 kids coming back with a possible freshmen class of 6-8 that we know of. Real small public school.

We have about 1600 kids 9-12. This year we had 95 players (grades 10-12) and 40 players on the frosh team. We are an upper middle-class suburban school and not very diverse.
