With all these posts on here about wives and what we need to do to balance home and football, it got me to wondering. What/when/how did you know that your wife was the one that could be a coaches wife?
When I started dating my wife I was coaching college and putting in 18 hour days. I'd see her and talk about the 50 defense and split back veer, this was the early 90's. She went to the library and checked out football books to do some research on what the heck I was talking about. That is when I knew she was the one.
After 16 years of marriage, 19 years of coaching and 4 children, she still gets it and loves being a coaches wife.

When I explained to her after the 3rd date, that I was, and always would be a football coach, my career goal was to be a HFC, how much time I was going to be putting in at different times of the year, and if she couldnt handle that, than we need not go out again. I will keep her response that night to myself!

Knew her in college, she hung out with us when I was student teaching and coaching and she came to the games even the painful 9th grade ones (they were beyond bad!). She comes from a football family, dad hasn't missed an Ohio State home game in over 30 some years, and she always understood the time commitment with coaching but probably more importantly understood the emotional investment. We dated for a long time on top of the quasi dating in college so there was more than enough adjustment/trial period to being with a coach and when we got engaged I knew I was in good shape when she planned the wedding and honeymoon for dead period! As long as you are upfront with your goals and lifestyle choice and she is honest about what she can deal with you should know if it is a good fit. If not, as an old timer told me, get out or get another woman!

She told me she was the one, and don't tell me it wasn't that way with you. She picked you, not the other way around.

You know you've got a coach's wife when she decides to put off double knee replacement surgery, while going bone on bone, until football season is over.

When she called me after attending a University of South Carolina and University of Florida game and asked if Florida was running veer out of shotgun.

In our 5th year of marriage I had a kidney stone during the season...
The pain was undiagnosed and was VERYYYY bad around me lower side.
I was sure it was gas pain and I could NOT get a bowel movement to occur.
My wife gave me an enema... that is when I knew she was no doubt the one!.. lol

My wife was given a jacket by our old club with "Mrs. Coach" on the sleeve. The name just stuck ever since.
When my wife and I first met, it was just coming on to playoff time, and yes, I was coaching. We met at a Halloween Party, and I couldn't see her on the following Tuesday night because, of course, we had practice. Apparently she wasn't too badly put off. When we were still going out the next year, and she watched our championship game in sub-zero temperatures (we are Canadians!), I think the deal was sealed. We were engaged about six weeks after that. That was over 19 years ago now!

She did pick me! I agree Robin Hood.
We bought our first car, a little Chevy Nova (toyota built) on a scouting trip and our first daughter was born 9 months to the day after our school's first ever playoff win.
It was destiny.

I wasn't coaching when I met my wife, but she knew that I wanted to be. The first couple of years were a little rough, but she has adjusted nicely. I guess I truly knew that she was a coaches wife when she started going to league meetings with me and discussing stuff afterwards. Heck now she is even a member of the executive board for the youth organization I help run.

I was looking for the opposite of some of you guys. My wife doesn't know much about football and that's just the way I like it. I get enough grief from the fans, I don't want to come home and have her questioning me about why I blitzed on 3rd and long and let them run a screen for a TD. haha

When I met my wife I was in college and coaching a MS team; on most Friday nights during the season me and some buddies would go to the best HS game in the area or go see some of my former players. She went, that was big.
She also complained that the Lakers couldnt pull a damn rebound; that was huge.
But more importantly she was and is everything I wanted in a wife.
