blogs.citypages.com/blotter/2011/09/jerry_kill_seizures_press_conference.phpMinnesota coach Jerry Kill brought the college football world to a standstill a couple weeks ago with a seizure at the end of the U's close loss to New Mexico State. There were questions on whether he, and the team, could bounce back from such a scary moment. Answer: Hell yes. The team's well-being was confirmed by its win on Saturday over the University of Miami (Ohio). As for Kill, his vigor was on show in a raucous press conference today, during which Kill acknowledged that he's still suffering from seizures, but wasn't going to let it slow him down. At one point, someone asked about the last two games. "Well," Kill said, "since New Mexico State, I've had about -- I don't know about how many damn seizures. I've had a hell of a lot of stuff happen to me since New Mexico State, so I can't remember my damn name sometimes." On another question, this one about his seizures, Kill said it was all out of his control, and he just wanted to keep on coaching, according to the U's official transcript.

When Jerry Kill got hired at Minnesota I s**t talked him, I'll admit it, I was one of the guys who said "why would Minnesota hire a nobody, they need a big name to win, they need Mike Leach who can come in and do something different, it's Minnesota, you don't win at Minnesota running power and zone all day"
Then I saw Jerry Kill talk and present at a coaching conference and I said to myself "I want that guy to win real bad, he will turn it around at Minnesota, the man is a winner"
I stand by that today... get well Jerry, the guys a damn good coach.

Jerry Kill is awesome and I think the thing a lot of people are overlooking is that he knew he had a seizure condition and has had seizures in the past. So while it has gotten worse all of a sudden it is not a surprise which makes it a little bit easier for him to deal with it.

Football caused seizures in me. Its the reason I stopped playing. I had around 4 a year every year I played. Since I stopped playing I've had 1 in 5.5 years. Nowhere near as bad as Coach Kill but I can sympathise with him.
I couldnt remember my name or where I was, and when it hits it doesnt matter if you are in bed asleep or standing ont he sideline or even on the John.
A seizure like he has is similar to mine and I can say they are the most painful, horrible, debilitating things I have ever experienced. I would rather go bull in the ring with the biggest toughest players I know until I am unable tos tand than have a seizure. Coach Kill has my deepest respect right now.

The fact that his team played Southern Cal even on the road and then loses to NM State probably would give any coach a seizure.

Just saw that yesterday Kill said he was taking time off and checking into the Mayo clinic to try to solve it. I hope it works. I'm with tog, I've always been a fan of how he does his thing.

Coach Kill checked out of the Mayo Clinic yesterday and went straight to practice. In in post-practice interview he said he is in Minnesota to rebuild a program. Can't do that from a hospital bed. Needs to be with team and players to make sure things are being done the right way.
Love the guy!!

I think his candor is great but what happens when he does the croppy flow and he wakes up drooling and crapping his pants in a wheelchair b/c he had a stroke related to the seziure? I was at the NMST game and I knew the gophers where going to lose the game because of how the kids reacted as a result of him doing the croppy flop. no team is worth killing yourself over.

Airman, this post is not necessary. Do a little research. Seizures do not cause strokes to those under 60. Also this is not the place to come on and ridicule those that have a seizure by saying they do a "croppy flop". I have a lot of experience in the area of epileptic seizures. This is a topic that hits close to home. If you can't make worthwhile statement then don't make one at all!
