We are AWFUL in the 2nd quarter...not really sure why. I have never been associated with a team that has been this bad in the 2nd quarter.
First game the only time the team we played scored a TD was in the 2nd quarter and they scored 3 of them.
Second game gave up two TDs in the 2nd Quarter...
Last game FIVE!!! Should have been 4 but we had 34 seconds and I was an idiot and told my OC to go ahead and try to score instead of takin a knee because I figured we are already down 4 scores lets see if we can give our kids a little momentum and let them know we will not give in so we throw the ball and they pick it and score a TD then we take a knee with 7 seconds...
We are good for the 1st Quarter, which we haven't given up a score and have forced 5 turnovers and blocked two kicks...the last two games were blowouts so we may haven't given up a ton late but that could be because the other teams JVs are in.
I don't necessarily think we are out of shape...but I am worried that we just aren't phsyically strong enough. This is the only thing I can come up with. I took the job in June so we didn't get a ton of work in the weightroom so we are going to focus on that end of things when the end of the season comes...
What do we do now to help solve the problem?
Any thoughts are much appreciated!

what kind of team were they before you got there? is it a "losing culture" thing? (ie. they're so used to getting beat that their just waiting for it to happen) Is there a noticable differerence in EFFORT in the 2nd quarter or is it just poor execution? Someone pointed out on another thread, you're good at what you emphasize. Maybe they've just never learned to focus, which is something that with emphasis could be fixed this season. If a "culture" thing, then it might be a longer road... sometimes it takes a couple of "your" classes of kids to reach leadership age before they truely believe they're supposed to win.
