Up here in Massachusetts, Thanksgiving day IS high school football day. We have many, many rivalries that have been being played for 100+ years. We typically have breakfast with our opponent the day before (on Wed) and play the games at 10:00am on Thanksgiving.
We start our playoffs the following Tuesday and then wrap up the championship games(Superbowls) on Saturday -- lots of football in a few days.

In St. Louis we have the Turkey Day Game between Webster Groves High School and Kirkwood High School. They will be meeting for the 107th time thursday. However, for the 3rd time in 4 years it will be a JV game since Kirkwood will play in the Missouri Class 5 title game on Saturday, (Webster was in the title game in 2003 and 2004). It is a huge event in both of these two communities, even when the JV teams are playing.

I wish that I had ESPN 2 so I could watch the Pitsburg and Easton game, read that article about them and the history behind the game and looks like the 2 teams are prpetty dang good too. Would make for a great start to the Football game day events around here.... damn the small town cable companies!!!

For those watching the game...
What do you think about the two teams?
Recognizing its two wing T teams, it might be hard to execute against each other... but I think middle of the road Illinois ball matches up favorably with these Pennsylvania teams... Are these good teams?

Ummm not sure what teams you were watching but I didn't see much wing-t out of either of them. Easton was #3 in AAAA in PA and I think P'burgh was in the top in NJ. I would prob say the emotion and rivalry prob play more a role in their execution than anything. I would say they were two pretty well matched teams representing a pretty good level of HS football.

yeah, I don't know squat about either program, but I from what I saw, I'd have to assume; Easton is a 'veer' team, that lined up in double tight wing formations....I just didn't see any belly series
* Nice GIRL p/k in Britney Ryan for Easton, too

I am almost positive that nobody cares, but we (coaches) beat our players in our Turkey Bowl, 10 td's to 8....Very hard fought ;D

how about the throwback uniforms? The black and white pants were very ugly, but very cool how these 2 programs embrace the past and carry on a great rivalry. The picture in the USA today was very classy IMO.

Ummm not sure what teams you were watching but I didn't see much wing-t out of either of them. First series of the game... Phillipsburgh comes out .............TE..OT..OG..C..OG..OT...................SE ..FL........................QB............. .............................FB......HB And runs Play action Buck Series... that's not Wing T? First series of the game for Easton... .............TE..OT..OG..C..OG..OT...................SE ............................QB............FL...... ..................HB.......FB..................... Flanker motions across the offense, and they run buck action, HB trap... Say what you will about me... but don't insult my IQ... Sure, they may run other things... saw some ace... but first series was base series... those were wing T teams... Don't know what game I was watching? Right... my bad... forget I even commented...

Ok I watched the game and saw them run a few wing-t plays but I wouldn't call either team a true wing-t team. Somebody has their panties all in a bunch huh. Wish they would show some Ill. teams so we could see some real football since those teams would have been "middle of the road Ill football teams"

Any Illinois folks on the board? Somebody step up and tell coach how fantastic 3 out of the 4 games yesterday, were simply fantastic... Our small ball, divisions 1a-4a were playing football like nobody's busiiness... Wing T - Plano and FB Nick Nasti were outrageous... Pro I / multi- formation - St. Joe and Westville were beast! SG Spread - Tuscola., Aledo, Maroa Forsyth, Addison Driscoll... Oh my goodness... Please, somebody else from Illinois, let this man know, what type of ball is being played in the Il... he won't believe it, if I tell him... PS... My panties aren't in a bunch... I wear thongs!
