I am in the hunt for a new lineman sled, old one is about 15 years old. What are the sleds that you like and why??? Been searching and found that Rogers, Rae Crowther, and Gilman seem to be popular. Just interested in what you as coaches would suggest and why? Thanks for your input in advance.

Coach, go with the Lev Sled. It is produced by Rogers. I am a big believer in the Lev Sled. As a player, I found I always got the most out of the Lev Sled because of its lever action. I used them in High School and in College, and they are really good sleds for both offensive and defensive linemen. You have to drive it in violently before the arm will release, and then it will rise and you can continue to drive. Other sleds make you drive them in before they will rise, but none of them do it with a feel as realistic as the Lev Sled. Some sleds make you drive too long before the arm will rise, and some sleds do not make you drive in at all before the arm rises. We have Gilman sleds at the High School I currently coach at, and I really do not like them. In fact, I think I have my Head Coach convinced that he needs to get a new Lev Sled within the next year or so. That's a pretty big deal since he bought the Gilman sleds only 4 years ago. I hope this helps.

I second the Lev sled! I have been using them since 97, I have found nothing better on the market.

smu: If you talk them into the Rogers, let us know if your Gilman becomes available. Our sled is, no lie, over 25 years old ("new" pads are 12 years old). School refuses to spend any money on new equipment.

Get the LEV! Once the kids learn the ins and outs of it, they are able to correct their own mechanics.

Go with a two man Lev Sled from Rogers, it will be all the sled you need
