Hey coaches...
I strongly dislike our program's pre-game period (cumbersome and disorganized) and am looking to change it. I'd appreciate anyone willing to share how they do it. Do you stretch as a team? Break down by position group? If so, on both O and D or just one (assuming you're not true two-platoon)? Do you run through a team O and D period? One or both? And generally how long is your pre-game? What about meetings before you take the field? It's a lot of questions, I know, but any help would be great.
Thanks in advance...

Best pre-game I've seen was before our state semi-final playoff game last year. Our opponent (and eventual champ) swaggered down to the field without shoulder pads or helmets on. They blasted music so loud we couldn't hear ourselves. They tossed the ball around, including linemen, for about 20 minutes. Then, they all stood on the 50 yard line watching our warm-up in intimidating fashion before they sauntered to the locker room.

325 School is out 345 Roll call in team room --- Call out special teams, check subs, last minute reminders --- Pregame speech/reminders --- Circle Meeting: 2 seniors speak from the heart about what is valuable to them --- Occasional speaker, usually a former player 430-445 Team meal ***depending on how long the Circle Meeting goes 500 Offense walk through in the gym/Defensive coaches meeting 530 Defensive walk through/Offensive coaches meeting ---- players get taped during coaches meetings 615 Specialists got outside to kick and catch, QBs warm up 625 Everybody on the field --- Sweep the field --- Rebel Mob --- Dynamic warm up --- Indy ***** Defense: drills, reads, tackling, etc... ***** Offense: drills, routes, ball handling, steps, etc... --- Team Offense from the 40: 2 plays on air, Defense 1 play on air. 2 reps with the 1s, 1 rep with the 2s, Offense scores on second play of the fourth set --- Punt from the end zone going out --- PAT 715 Team to the locker room/coaches to the box 720 bus around to the other side of the stadium (field house is opposite side of the 'entrance') 730 KO
I don't have the specific times while we are on the field with me, there is one coach that keeps that and moves each groups through the progression.

A few years back played against a team who warmed up like that, no helmets or shoulder pads and threw the ball around, two kids going after the same ball cracked heads, one had stitches the other got a concussion. Neither were starters though. They went to back to back state championships.

I hated it in college and I hate it as a coach. I just want to get after it.

I want our kids to get used to field conditions-weather (wind, ex.), when we're away how to get on-off field, where our bench is, etc.
I want them to have a sense of routine although everything we do (Specialties, Warm-up, Individual etc.) is on smaller scale-fewer reps.
I want them to break a little sweat, get their pads loose (a hit or three), and our kicker and punter to have one on game field in Team before game starts.
Other than that, I'll concede Pre-Game. We don't try to win the chanting-clapping-yelling battle. Why waste the energy?
One of best teams I ever had never said sh!t if they had a mouthful before game, actually laughed-made fun of those who looked like they spent all day before practicing their "routines" - but man when ball was kicked off their enthusiasm was extremely evident by what they did with their pads.
My college coach told me "You have to get to the game early so you can worry."
That's more for us than kids I'm sure.

I want to stay as far away from the other team as possible if I could warm up on another field I would. The kids can't help but look and size the other team up. Pregame is such a distraction. The only thing worse than pregame is halftime,
