4 turnovers in one quarter. One KO return for TD. One blown coverage, result TD. Entertaining Superbowl for change. Rex Grossman really looks like somebody from American Idols. Or at least throws like one.

Bears need to do something on offense or this thing is going to get ugly. Looks like Manning figured out the Bears D.

Bears dodge a bullet before halftime...Colts get the first possession of the 2nd Half. Better figure out how to move the ball, Ron!

I was partially right. I predicted Hester would run one back. Congrats to the Colts fans. Your team played very well when it counted, and played very good run defense in the post season.
Now about the Bears...do they pursue a QB in the off season or stick with Grossman? I know one cannot pin this loss on him b/c frankly the D (minus Tommie Harris & Mike Brown) could not stop the Colts, but with a more consistant QB?

I have to say it went pretty much how I thought it would. Except for the opening. But I knew eventually Grossman would blow it and I was just thinking, wow, he has not done anything to lose it yet...and then he throws the pick for the TD.
The Bears were better than I thought they would be. But it was only a matter of time.
Way to go Dungy! Way to go Manning! Way to go Tom Moore!

Glad for Dungy and Manning. Grossman just couldn't stay away from the big mistake, although you could say he took his team to the Superbowl 7 years before Manning did...

those fumbled snaps........anyone else see that he was jumping out too soon and his hands weren't together to receive it?
Bears franchise since 2001 (jerry angelo) was BUILT from defense, to special teams, then the Oline........the missing piece isn't a world-beater QB. It's just a QB that makes good decisions.

Ok, my boys went down but I can't blame it all on Rex
For as long as I can remember the Bears have been a run team. Up 7-0 and they are throwing?
They know they have a wild card at QB and they call passes? If they had run the ball, milked the clock, they would have had a better chance
Nice to see Manning get the ring that guarantees the HOF though

I'm a big Bears fan but I will be glad to to see the jackasses who say Manning is a loser because he hasn't won a SB shut up.

That's why Darin Slack teaches bottom hand pressure! Too bad my Qb's weren't at our SB party, would've been a good teaching moment!

Urlacher missed quite a few tackles. He was good side to side, but the ran up the middle for about 130 atleast.

Don't forget about Wiegmann (the Bears OL) he is an Aplington Parkersburg product! Another Iowa boy! The better team won, QB produced for the Colts, and imploded for the Bears. And who had the better defense? All talk about how "physical" the Bears were as opposed to how "finesse" the Colts were? Needless to say the whole thing has been put to rest.

Run the ball, run the ball, run the ball... OC for the Bears called a terrible game. Chewing up big chunks of yardage through the middle of the Colts defense running the ball and then started throwing with a shaky QB. Makes no sense to me...oh well, what do I know. Great job by the Colts offense staying patient. The better team won. Congrats to Tony Dungee, what a class individual.

Here is a question.
Since Jerry Angelo's arrival, his entire thrust was to BUILD a dominant defense. He traded away the most productive offensive player in recent memory for a prized pass rusher. He used high round draft picks on DL & DBs.
The question is.....how good should your defense be when you have a roster driven by the goal of being the best defense, with the league's BEST defensive player (Urlacher)?
How much does game plan / scheme / coaching come into play, when you have the BEST defensive talent in the league, but you still really can't get anything accomplished on that side of the ball?
Is there a legitimate answer to this?

Sad. Rex was frustrating at best. I'm a Bears fan since I was a 10 year old cursing former Bear QB Vince Evans.
But I've been so sick of the "Peyton deserves a Super Bowl." Didn't Butkus deserve one? Or Marino? or Barry Sanders? After the game I could acknowledge that the game having played out as it did, Peyton deserved a Super Bowl win. . .and got it. I just can't go in for all of the "he'll never be remembered as a great one if he doesn't win it so I sure hope he does."
No one DESERVES it until they win it.

I don't know how much blame can be heaped on the defense last night...IMO, there were really only two times when the defense broke down. The blown coverage that led to the TD and the long drive the Colts had to start the 2nd half were really the only times the defense looked bad. Heck, the D held Manning and Co. to only 16 points in the 1st half AND gave the Bears' O, what? 3 or 4 extra possessions on turnovers? IMO, the Bears' D played well enough to win last night. I'm sure there are some things that Rivera wishes he did differently, but, all in all, I think it was an honest night's effort against the best offense in the NFL. I think that it comes down to the Bears' offense...at the very least, Rex and Ron had to get some first downs, burn some clock, get the defense off the field. Not only did they fail to do that, they compounded the problem by giving the Colts chance after chance by turning the ball over. If your gameplan is to run the ball, burn the clock, and not turn the ball over, you had better be able to run the ball, burn the clock, and not turn the ball over. Rex and Ron did everything that was needed to put the Bears' D in a no-win situation last night. The only thing missing last night was Buddy Ryan punching Kevin Gilbride!
