I'm not as concerned with my athletes as much as I am with their parents- I have far more confrontations with irrate dads than I have had with kids. I don't know how a school district can, in good conscience, punish a coach when a parent gets physical, especially with ther other incidents we have seen around the country. I do everything I can do avoid bad confrontations with parents, but if Daddy ever lays a hand on me, hes going to regret it, whether the school district backs me up or not.

not true about the excessive force. i too practiced martial arts for several years and was convinced that was the case until I really read the law. (for the state of oklahoma) The fact is you don't even legally have to wait for someone to swing...when they make a threat of physical harm and you believe they will carry it out you have the full right to waste their butt.
A great example of this happened recently in florida where a local Ju-Jitsu instructor was attacked by a knife wielding mugger. He took the guy down, arm bared him, and they guy tapped....smart thug...the ju jitsu guy let him go and the guy rolled over and stabbed him 3 times in the chest. The guy nearly died. Tell him not to use excessive force.
