Fellas, We go to a national guard camp forthe first week of 2 a days.
Looking for some good films that are either motivational or humorous for 60 boys to watch together. We end the day with chow, 30 min meeting, then movie time and snacks.
last years list included
Major Payne Heartbreak Ridge
Any thoughts?
Thanks for all your help fellas. 2007 season is upon us.

Gosh, theres so many good ones. My all time favorite humorous, trying to succeed, motivational flick has got to be "Tommy Boy", even has a football technique scene, lol!

Are you staying away from football flicks? I don't know if you can stomach watching these for the 10,000th time, but Rudy and Remember the Titans are probably the two best football ones that have a good theme and without all the language. The Water Boy comes to mind for funny, but has a few questionable scenes.

Christmas Vacation - Pure Cinematic Genius The Great Outdoors - The late, great John Candy Braveheart - The old standby Tommyboy as stated above Billy Madison Miracle - Great teaching moments The Patriot - Another Mel classic Uncle Buck For you really old guys a nostalgic look back would be "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" For war scenes- pick'em: Full Metal Jacket (my personal favorite) Platoon Patton - (for the coaches) Check for edited/cleaner TV version of almost all of these.

In no particular order... Gladiator Brian's Song (the original , of course) The Dirty Dozen We've shown Gladiator and there's a great message about teamwork. In the initial battle, I like to point out how the Germans talk smack and fight as individuals for individual glory. The Romans don't say $hit, walk across the field and, fighting as a team, slaughter the Germans. The Dirty Dozen is another great movie for teamwork plus there are no issues with language or graphic violence.

one of my favorite "football. movies is "the last samurai" for two reasons.
1) the 'flash forward' visualizations Cruise has in the movie, that directly applies to seeing-it-before-you-do-it when you work technique work in drills.
2) the Bushido Code of the Samurai, that it is not just what you do, but how it is done (personal honor in doing it RIGHT)....

Great suggestions fellas. Thanks for the help.
We do spend two nights watching game films. Great hs games or college games are big hits.
Films on teamwork are great
I try to lean towards films they have not seen.
The great oudoors Dirty Dozen
are at the head of the list.

Great lessons about teamwork, brotherhood, Spartan warrior committment to discipline... Best I have seen in a long time!
There is some nudity, I think two scenes. I would just skip/fast forward right by it.

I would just skip/fast forward right by it. what about the rape scene? Truthfully, the scene with the grotesque Mage's was the most offensive scene in the movie. Not enough violence in the movie.
