I realize you are looking for football-specific, but there is some great overall justifications for S+C from Alan Stein on basketball-specific stuff on his website, tons of free articles and newsletters, www.strongerteam.com/He also has great videos he posts on youtube: www.youtube.com/strongerteamdotcom

Find an email for Coach Kevin Vanderbush at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis. He is the full-time guy there and he has a ton of resources. I may be able to find it for you.

LOL... that is what I have to be! I am given 6 bags of peanuts, I mean stipends, for the entire year and I need them to at least keep few coordinators and position coaches. I run the weights all year long. If I had more control over $$$ in/out then I would try to create one.

Who will have control over a fulltime S&C coach?

Just a question, could it not be a PE position that is in the weight room all day and gets a coaching stipend for after school work? The only thing is you will probably need to share with other sports so football may not always get top priority in the weightroom after school in the offseason.

PM Coach Woodall on this site. He is at Byrnes High and they have a fantastic full time strength coach and it has paid huge dividends.

All of the successful programs that I know of have S&C coaches. You have to sell it to the principle!

Our S&S guy has been here for 14 years. He is full time in the weight room now, but started as an aid in a classroom with a supplement for running the weight room. As the S&S program has grown, we have added classes so that now we have not only a football class/wt class, but also catch other sports like baseball, softball, basketball, etc.....
We have a 4x4 schedule, so the way we do it is that fall sports have their class in the spring, and winter/spring sports have their class in the fall. The HS has been very helpful in setting coach's planning periods so that they are availiable to help out when their sport is in the class.
For football, we usually lift 3-4 day per week and go outside to practice 1-2 days. For sports like basketball, the beginning of their season coincides with the start of their season, so once the coaches have made cuts, they actually will lift couple of days and the other days will have have their practice (or at least part of it) during the school day. It has been a great way to maximize the use of the gym (since there are 3 levels of boys BB, and 2 levels of girls BB) and not have to have the kids at the school to 8-9 o'clock practicing.
I don't really have any numbers that I could give out about the benefits of having a S&S coach vs. not having one, but if anyone is interested I can put you in touch with the people that would have that.

Make it about building better athletes- in all sports, men's and women's and not just about football. It's a much easier sell when you take this path and honestly very little if any of what we do in the weightroom is "football specific" it's athletic specific. Everything we do in the off season and summer we offer to all athletes regardless of sport or sex- it gets you some great allies and takes away amunition from those who want to whine about football programs and coaches "getting whatever they want".

I agree with contacting Kevin Vanderbush from Ben Davis HS in Indianapolis IN. He has exactly what you are looking for on Powerpoint. How to sell it to you administration, class format, etc... It is awesome stuff
