So far I have coached against two 2011 draft picks. They both were nasty... Anyone else coach against any 2011 draft picks?

Spent 1 year in SC and coached against 3 in the preseason-AJ Green, Daquan Bowers, and Robert Quinn. Bowers also saw some time at RB, imagine being a HS Safety stepping infront of that!

Tyrod Taylor was a four year starter at Hampton HS so we got the "honor" of playing him at least five times. Sent us home from the playoffs in 2005.

Taiwan Jones just got picked by the Raiders. Went to Deer Valley HS, our cross town rival. But this was before I was coaching here. (I am only a year or 2 older than him)

Coached one...and coached against one today. I'm proud to say RG Andrew Jackson (Fresno State) honed his expertise from me. Just kidding. I have coached 19 years. Andrew Jackson is the best human being I've seen in that time. 4.0+ student, NEVER, EVER was asked to help clean up stuff from the practice field...did it on his own. Look up leadership....his picture will be there. The Atlanta Falcons got a real good one. Coached against Brandyn Thompson, CB from Boise State. Good in HS, but not overly great. Got real real good at Boise. Good luck to him as well.
Also, really good friends with Colin Kaeparnick's HS HC. Already promised me some Niners swag for my kids...since we're Niners fans. Great pick by the Niners btw. Kap is an outstanding human being as well.

Lost in the state championships to Phil Taylor. Though he was not much of a challenge for us defensively, he was a huge presence on the offensive line. The last play of the game - double overtime - you see him leaning on the running back to fall into the endzone to win the game.

Coached against 3 that were drafted this year, all from the same high school. All 3 were obviously incredible athletes.

Didn't coach him, joined the staff 2 years later. Stephen Paea from Oregon State only played his senior year at Timpview. Our head coach told BYU you really want this kid he is raw but he is going to be a player.
BYU declined, he could walk on if he wanted to they said. Future Pac 10 defensive player of the year in your backyard and you say eh maybe he can make the team as a walk-on. Good call........

Dejon Gomes (Nebraska) is an alum of our school, although he graduated before I got here. He has come in multiple times the last 2 years to talk to our kids about the importance of doing well in school and doing the right things off the field. Really a good guy... great to see him get drafted.

Jimmy Smith (CB) went 1st round to the Ravens, Shareece Wright (CB) 3rd round to the Chargers, and Allen Bradford (RB) 6th round to the Bucs. Coming out of high school Bradford was a 5* LB I believe, one of the top 3 in the nation. I think Shareece was a 4* and Smith was a 2 or 3*. That team was loaded. Had a qb who was 6'4 and over 200 that had a cannon and a huge OLine.

In the 1998 season there were 5 future NFL players on the roster of a local public school here with a total enrollment of ~250 boys... =) Insane...

Not drafted but hopefully we will see him in the NFL one day-Mark Herzlich. Here's hoping that he continues his inspiring comeback story from cancer. He was a beast in HS in football & lacrosse. Good luck Mark!

I had the chance to coach against Jake Locker, during his Jr. year in HS. He beat us 42-17. His team's only loss of the season was in the state championship, to the powerhouse, Bellevue program. He got his revenge, his Sr. year, beating Bellevue in an undefeated season.

How many times did you tell someone that when he was accepting that Heisman trophy? Or, when he was gashing Texas in the title game a couple years ago..."this is what we did to stop him!"
