by law here in CA we have to send our helmets off to a company to "recondition" them. they basically clean them, take off all hit marks, polish, and make sure the helmet is still safe with no cracks or imperfections. good way of covering school and districts ass

We rotate the reconditioning of our helmets and shoulder pads. They go out every other year. Some of our "heavy use" helmets get sent out every year though.

We recondition a number of helmets and shoulder pad every year(what the budget will allow) and the rest we return to the racks that they once came. It always nice to see a freshman with a battle scarred helmet on during two-a-days.

we spray the inside of our helmets down with 409 and just wipe them out.
My DC owns a carpet cleaning business, so we bring him in to steam and chemically treat the shoulder pads. He charges me 200.00 to do it.

We sanitize them with the players sweat.
