Gents: I'm in touch with a coach in Central Europe who is looking for a player/coach to help take his program to the next level. He specifically needs someone with QB skills who is interested in coaching as a career, and for whom this season would represent a possible starting point for that ambition. The team in question is located in Kragujevac*, Serbia -- the Kragujevac Wild Boars**. Their head coach and I have been in contact via e-mail for several months now, and I am planning a trip to Serbia to visit him and help him with practice in March. Here's the deal -- the team will rent an apartment and may (repeat, may) be able to pay airfare for the right player/coach. After that, the young man in question will dive right in to a unique situation -- there are only a handful of Americans involved in Serbian football right now, so it will be a learn-as-you-go experience for all involved. A sense of adventure is definitely required for this one. The Wild Boars would like the QB/coach to be in Serbia by mid-March, so time is obviously at a premium here (the season will last until mid-July). If anyone knows a young man who is interested in coaching, has QB experience (college preferred, but the right high school QB with coaching experience would be considered), and is willing to experience overseas life at its most interesting,*** please have him contact me ASAP at seayee@hotmail.com. * en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kragujevac** www.wildboars.org.yu/*** www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/Republic_of_Serbia/Kragujevac-721794/Nightlife-Kragujevac-BR-1.htmlbelgrade.org.yu/blog/497/serbian-girls-hot-or-not

Its a shame I was not a QB. I honeslty have always liked the idea of coaching over seas. The problem has always been timing as far as the school year was concerned it is always bad.

I think we had better wait until the mess gets cleaned up over there. I am qualified to carry a M16, but it could cause concern throwing a FB......

Very nice.....but those Serbs just do not like the Imperialist "Wild Bunch", Ted. Brophy: My timing is as spectacularly bad as ever. Here's an e-mail I just got from the HC in Kragujevac (he's originally from Belgrade), subject line: "Ashamed" I have no words to explain the shame that I feel since last night's vandalism in my own city. I deeply apologize to you as my sport friend, and want to say that the majority of people that surround me share that feeling. As they say in the classics, never mind...

far be it from to assume anything, Ted.....but, this "offer" has been revoked now, yes? Even your sway with DOD can't get a civie into the country now, I suppose.
On the bright side, there IS an opportunity for a player-coach for anyone with playing experience as a DB................in TURKEY for the club-team, Kurd Krush (www.kurdkrushfootball.com)
Let me know when Blackwater needs some coaches in the province formerly known as Iraq - I'll be all over it.

Couldn't this be a real life sequel to Blazing Saddles? Michael Vick plays the part of Jailbird/Sherriff leading the fight in hostile country. Call Mel Brooks ASAP

Holy crap, is this where Borat is from? [glow=red,2,300]HIGH FIVE![/glow] Y'know, you may not have been too far wrong: Laying wreaths on the several locations in the city and paying their respects to the victims by the Monument of Shoot Serbs and Jews in the city’s quarter Bagremar, marked the beginning of this year’s October in Kragujevac.
In encounter, the 4th International Saloon of Antiwar Cartoon was opened. This event with profound antiwar message founded twenty five years ago, has gathered 237 authors from 40 countries who applied with 518 works this year. The jury’s decision was to award Saloon’s The Golden Plague to Serbian cartoonist Tosa Borkovic. Some stuff you just can't make up... www.kragujevac.org.yu/en/index.html

I am the QB/OC for the Wild Boars this season, thanks to Coach Seay. So far I am loving the city, the people, the food, the women (good lord), and the team.
The players are very dedicated and happy to learn. We are practicing twice as much as any other team I have ever been associated with in Europe and the attendance at practice is excellent.
Coach Seay visited Kragujevac this past weekend and was a very big help to our team. After spending some time with him, I must say that he is one of the most knowledgeable football minds I've ever spoke with and he is a great guy off the field. Very, very down to earth.
The Wild Boars are coming off an 0-7 season in 2007. We have changed the offense from a basic 2 back/1 TE set to the spread. We are very small and inexperienced up front, but we have an excellent RB and some decent receivers. If the o-line comes around (and I fully expect it to), I think we will have a very successful season.
Regular season kicks off this coming Sunday, April 6 when we travel to play Pancevo, a team that went 4-3 last season.

Stan: It was great meeting you and the guys this last weekend. Best of luck to you and the Wild Boars! ...and make sure Blažo uses the board drills for teaching zone steps to the O-line and then reinforces that they should actually use those same steps when running Zone Right & Zone Left!

Congratulations to player/coach Stan Bedwell and the Kragujevac Wild Boars for winning the 2008 American football championship of Serbia. From worst to first is always impressive (the Boars lost all their games in 2007), but Stan really provided value to Kragujevac by installing a shotgun spread offense and teaching it to the players and the coaching staff at the same time, all while he QB'd the team to a one-loss season and a 39-33 victory in the Serbia Bowl over the Belgrade Wolves. I also understand that Coach Bedwell will be taking up new duties soon as WR coach at a midwest JC -- congrats on the new job, too!

Grats!
I remember this post being put up originally and thinking "damn that has to be a great experience being able to be OC and QB," says the ex-lineman....
I'm pretty jealous.

Love the video. I love the reactions of players, especially the db who falls on the ground after giving up the TD. They have a great passion and desire. As a former American who played/coach in Europe, I would be lying if I didn't wish to go back and coach in Europe sometimes. It was the beginning of my coaching career and a great experience in many ways. It balanced my understanding of the ups and downs in this profession. Coach Seay thanks for pushing this opportunity and congrats to the Boars. Coach Spate
