When I make a DVD recording and I play my tape that I want to put on DVD, the tape will end and the DVD-R recorder stays on recording. The screen will be all fuzzy and like static because the tape is over. I go to press stop on the DVD-R recorder and it says WAIT. It will continue to say WAIT, if wont let me turn it off either. So I have to pull the plug on the recorder to stop it from saying WAIT, I then power it up and try to finalize the DVD and it says on titles are found. THe only way I can get it to record right is if I sit right next to the recorder, right when the tape finishes I will press stop and it works fine. This is easy when the tape is short but when your copying something a couple of hours long its not as easy to sit and wait for it to finish. ANy help would be appreciated.

why dont you set the recorder on a timer or a limit on how long it can record...i will adjust the quality based on the length...and eventually the dvd player will stop recording because it has used all its space...
so if the vhs is one hour long i will set the quality at the highest which means it can only record one hour of high quality video and then it will stop recording
i hope that works

the "wait" on the DVD-R is it's process for finishing your DVD. DON'T turn it off while it's trying to do it's job!!!

I know but I pressed stop on the recorder and it said WAIT. I went to two baseball games lastnight, came home and the recorder still said WAIT. It wont let me turn the power off when WAIT was on, so I unplugged it. Then I lose everything. Who knows, Im gonna call samsung today.

I have a question. If you record a tape on DVD-R, will the quality end up better?

GIGI - Garbage In Garbage Out.....you can't make a crappy VHS tape into great production on DVD.
I had a DVDR recorder do that once....I unplugged it and started over (though that DVD has to be tossed).
IF it does it again, better have the company give you a refund.

tvt50,
you may want to check the speed requiremenst of your DVR to what type of DVD you are using. Quality even matters. I have a pioneer DVR and I was using a DVD that I bought at Walmart that met the requirements but it was such a poor quality they only worked about 1 out of every 5 times. I started using SONY DVD's and have had no problems since.
