A buddy of mine showed me this and I thought it was a good idea. After trying to get a few kids out of thier situations and off to college the last few years this sounds like a good setup to help facilitate that process. Do you guys know of other programs like this in your area?

February 19, 2011 ∙ 8:00AM-2:00 PM
Methodist Training Center
(You must pre-register to attend)
The Touchdown Club of Houston, along with the Houston Independent School District (HISD), will conduct a Senior Football Showcase for all unsigned class of 2011 Sr. football players. This Showcase is 100% free for all participants and colleges. Last year, the event had 20 NAIA, Division II, and Division III Colleges and Universities in attendance. The event also generated 138 offers of scholarships (roughly 4 million dollars) to the 380 student athletes in attendance.
If you know of a senior football player on your team that would like to continue to play at the next level, please pass on this information to them. The only requirements are for the student athlete to be a graduating senior, and meet 1 out of 3 of the following:
1. An SAT score of 1000 (M/V only) or ACT of 18
2. Be in the top half of his graduating class
3. Have over a 2.5 GPA
This is a 100% free showcase designed for student athletes to participate at DIV II, DIV III, and NAIA schools. As you know with these schools, your SAT score is a lot more important then your athletic ability when determining scholarships. Please make available the attached student registration link to any of your players that show an interest in playing football in college spreadsheets.google.com/viewfor ... cHRBV3c6MQ. Or www.tinyurl.com/fbshowcase
Space is limited, so please encourage them to turn it in as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please email or call me. You can also visit the Showcase website www.tinyurl.com/showcaseinfo.
This is a 100% free event for all student athletes and colleges. This showcase is for the sole purpose of giving student athletes a chance to further their education through athletics. If you need any references or a list of colleges that attended last year, please e-mail me.
