There were only three speakers there that really impressed me.
Ron English U of M - fire zone eye progressions Chuck Martin GVSU - Spread redzone package/boundary throws MSU DC - Defending the spread out of the 4-3
The MHSFCA clinic normally pretty disappointing

Coach Mallory, I thought that Randy Vander Veen from Rockford was pretty good on Defending the T. I also thought Dean Peters from Olivet, on program Organization was OK. I did not see Chuck Martin. I talk to Ron English at the Michigan clinic, and at some practices I attend. He is always good. Other than that, I agree with you. bluecrazy

I have to disagree with you coach mallory. I think the MHSFCA clinic had a great list of speakers this year and every year. If you heard Pat Fitzgerald speak from NU and didn't get fired up, then you don't have a pulse!
Coach Marin was great, and I always love the "Road to the Dome" speakers on Saturday morning. Usually 4 of the coaches that won the title that year. Always get some great program ideas there. The problem is that guys need to pull themselves away from the beer trough or get their tails out of bed to go actually hear some of these speakers.

Maybe if I had drank some beer I would have thought some of the mediocre speakers were good.
But seriously, the MHSFCA clinics do not compare to the clinics that are put on by other states.

I would have to say that past years the MHFCS clinics have been let downs to me. However they are doing a much better job at getting better speakers.
Let’s remember that not every speaker is going to talk about something we or you are looking to improve or implement. Such as, if you are not a zone team then most of the O line speakers may not be right for you. Having said that the O Line coach form Eastern Michigan University who talked about zone drills was fun to listen to and he had some good drills that I am going to use. Out of everyone I saw he was the best, wish I could remember his name.
I thought that the Grand Valley State University speaker had some good stuff too, he talked about their 5 wide goal line offense, very interesting. Then again if you are a power I guy it may not have been right for you.
The part that I was disappointed in was the speed guy, Jim T. Usually he is full of information and I have taken a lot of great stuff from his presentations. This time he just plugged his training center, books, and DVD’s. I already own them…and they are great. There was also a guy talking about how to train for combine testing. Even though he is a horrible speaker, he did have some good information.

OH...
I would also have to say that the mega clinics are much better... less distractions...
