Our regular season ended the on the 5th. Crossover games with another league in our region play tonight (to see who makes it to state playoffs). Our state playoffs begin this coming Friday and Saturday. We didn't make (7-3 overall), but it was our best season since 1990. Already looking forward to next season even though we lose some studs.

Final game is this Friday, win and we're in. We're hoping to be the team that no one wants to see, we're getting hot at the right time.

We got beat in the first round of the section playoffs by the #1 ranked team in state 2 weeks ago. Our section championships were last weekend and now the state quarterfinals start this weekend with the state championships taking place on Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Our schedule in IL sounds similar to MN's. We did not qualify for playoffs so our season ended October 22nd. Quarterfinals--3rd round--games are this weekend and the season will conclude with the championship games the day after and two days after Thanksgiving.

First round game is this Saturday at 1pm. It's the first playoff game in our program's short history. The school and community are pretty psyched.
We play the 2-time defending champs in their house!

1st round of the playoff are this week, in all classes.
6A, 5A, 4A all have 4 rounds.
3A, 2A, A all have 5 rounds.
Have 2 8-man classes, B and C. They go 4 rounds.
We got in as the 4th place team in our district. Play a district champion in the first round.

Wow...you guys were 7-3 and didn't make the playoffs? In Illinois, a 6-3 record gets you an automatic playoff berth and 5-4 gives you a decent chance if you played a reasonably competitive schedule. We currently have 8 classes here. 256 teams make the playoffs in Illinois. That's about half the schools in the state. There is some talk of expanding and letting even more schools in than we currently do.

That doesn't take away from the success you had this season. Congrats on the best finish since 1990! 19delta, The playoff system is the same here in Michigan with 256 teams eligible to make the playoffs in 8 divisions. Teams automatically qualify for the playoffs with 6 wins on a 9-game schedule or 5 wins on an 8-game schedule. The same holds true for some 5-4 teams if the field of 256 is incomplete. The athletic association will fill the rest of the field to get it to 256 based off of a points system which is basically a strength of schedule component. We were not one of those 256...we finished 4-5. We finished 4-5 in 2009 as well. Though we didn't make the playoffs, we did have consecutive seasons will at least 4 wins for the first time since 2000. In 2011, we will work toward a 5-4 season which would give our school only it's 5th winning season since 1977 (33 years). We're going to try to get to 5 as early as we can and once we get that we'll try for one more to make the playoffs. That would only be the 3rd playoff berth in school history. History in the making we hope. It's time to go to work!

You think it's tough not making the playoffs with a 7-3 record....There was a team in Connecticut a couple towns over from where I live that went either 11-0 or 10-1 (something really good) a few years back and they didn't make the state playoffs.
