Taking off from the "Cheating? Unethical? Neither?" thread:
This year I took over a team that heretofore had been No-huddle, all the kids had wrist bands and had to read hand signals to get play.
Returning Center asked me if they were all going to wear wrist bands this year. BIG sigh of relief when I told them no one was wearing wrist bands and QB was only one who'd have to get signals from sideline.
Sometimes we coaches incorporate wonderful new innovations perhaps without duly considering kids' ability to assimilate them.
One time I had a kid ask me to please quit stemming the defense, he just wanted to line up and whale the heck out of the guy across from him!

I can see what you are saying and agree to a certain extent. However if I need to flipping my TE the whole game to get a double team of the other teams worst D Lineman, I am going to do it even if the TE doesn't like. If the player doesn't like it... I am sure that the next player in line will do it because he wants to play.
The same thing could happen the other way around. You come in with no huddle and the team before you huddled. You could get the same expression because the center didn't like setting the huddle after every down and found it boring.
I think we as coaches sometimes fail to mention why what we do is important and relate to how it is vital to the teams success. I think if the kids know the reasoning behind things, they are more willing to do them because they know why.

Is the center Illiterate? Otherwise that doesn't make sense... did he not enjoy lining down faster so he had more time to see the defensive front and make his O-line calls?

We have our players wear wrist bands and we have had a lot of success at seeing the defense scramble and we can set the tempo of the game.
