Ok Folks, We have three starters that are injured and out for the year . (broken collar bone, acl and dislocated shoulder) any way these guys come to practice and I appreciate that, however it is turning into somewhat of a "coffee club"..They are not really being disruptive yet not paying attantion either..they go off the the side a chat...sometinmes w/ a trainer (knock out)..I need something for them to do as I do want them to be a part of the team (hence the injury update)..i don't want to be an A-hole either...thoughts....suggestions

Good question. First, I would talk with them about it. They probably don't really know how to fit in in that situation either. Heck, I know this year I am working with a header and I don't even know where I fit in. I basically coach the kid whose job it is to get the kicking tee off the field. Not kidding. So it can be an awkward situation.
Are they seniors? Underclassmen?

we are a first year program...no seniors..... so it is doubly important that we set the correct precedent...I mentioned it to them today at practice in a joking manner...and said something like hey can I bring you some donuts w/ your coffee..I want to have a sit down w/ them but I need something in my back pocket

We have our injured starters coach their position during practice.
