Any ideas for a fun practice session for 10-15 min? Something to break up the routine a bit, provide some competition, etc.

I've always wanted to have a brief, but savage, water balloon fight at practice.
More practical stuff: Long-snapping relay race---split into 3 teams, line 'em up every 5-10 yards, A snaps to B, B snaps to C, etc. Coaches take bets w/ pushups or something. Any variation of tag---tunnel tag, partner tag, blob tag, it's actually decent conditioning "Don't do this" period---Select a particular rule, have the team divide up and act out skits the exemplify extreme examples of violating that particular rule. We did this in college during fall camp, highlight was a guy demonstrating celebrating over a prone opponent who pulled out a newspaper after making a block and pretend to take a deuce on the guy's chest. Be careful with this though, might give some dumb asses an idea.

Not sure if my response goes along with this post, but a buddy of mine called me today and told me he heard of an NFL team that had the players fill the role of the coaches for one practice. I guess it came on TV today. I didn't see the segment, but maybe some of you know what team I'm referring to.
They sat in meetings, ran practice, drills, film session, etc.
We are heavily favored in our next match-up and thought this would be a good idea to keep them focused but having fun.
It also gives players some insight to what we see and expect from the coaching standpoint. I have a 10 man varsity staff. We're all going to pick a player to represent us.
It should be fun...funny...and informative.
These will be the moments that they remember 20 years from now.

shocktroop that might be hiliarious if you dress the players up how that particular coach dresses and have him act like him. I could see that being fun but probably better at the college level than a HS thing.
We've traded positions before. Lineman play WR and DBacks. Skilled guys play line against each other. Usually have your QBs still run QB so you can have effective passes and stuff and make it fun. We had a blast with this, but be very careful of injuries.
Another one would be to play rugby. This is fun for the bigs and the skilled guys. Teach them the basic rules and play some rugby, scrums and all.
And my two all time favorites 1) Special teams tug of war. on a football field, you mix and match your 1st string punt and your second string punt teams to make two relatively equal punt teams, and two relatively equal punt return teams. Team 1 punts the ball downfield and Team 2 returns it as far as they can. Then..team 2 punt team comes out and punts it back to team 1 from the spot they returned it to. team 1 then returns it back as far as possible and on and on until someone scores a TD or kicks a FG. If you punt it out of bounds the punting team gets a 10 yard penalty and must repunt. Punting it out of the endzone is a touchback. Its a freakin blast!!! 2) Running Game Tug of War: mix and match 1st and second string offenses and defenses to make 2 relatively equal Ds and 2 relatively equal offenses. Start the ball on the 45. team 1 runs a running play and gets as far as they can. Then Team 2 takes over and runs a running play from that spot..this goes on until someone scores. Its fun as heck too! By the way...both of these take way longer than 10 minutes...but its worth it at times. Have a 10 second play clock to help the teams switch in and out quickly. If you dont get your play off in time you lose your down. This also makes it into a cardio type drill also.

sorry i cant shut up but here's another one. if you need to work on redzone offense and defense, have your offense line up against the defense at the 5 yard line. 10 plays are run. if the offense scores a TD they get a point..if they don't, the defense gets a point. each play is from the 5 yard line. create a prize for winning...less running, losers carry the winners pads in at the end of practice, losing coach has to run a lap...or get up on the tower with the whole team around and sing i'm a little tea pot...make it fun and "high stakes" for the kids

have a tug a war offense verses defense. eating contest with the lineman on both sides and which ever side wins that's the gap led the skill positions have in the 3 legged relay race. I think its a good idea. If your team has a low morale right now, it will bring it back up.. if it's already high, it will only get higher..

Thanks guys, good ideas!
We did the long-snap relay that mariner suggested. Kids liked it and got them running alot. After a kid snapped they had to run around the end of the line and back to their original position in line.
Also did a field goal relay on the game field yesterday. Had two teams start at opposite ends of the field and make a field goal from the expoint line, then each 5 yards from one hash to another zig-zagging back to the 30 and then had to cross over and do the same thing in from the 30. First team to get to the opposite expoint line and make it won. Any missed FG and their group had to do ten pushups before going to the next spot. This wan't against a defense but had a coach watch them to make sure they had perfect stances, snaps, holds, etc or 10 pushups before moving on. Kids loved it but wore their butts out after two times through.
Any other ideas out there?

Celebration practice.
Let them celebrate any which way they want, get all the illegal stuff out of their systems.

Our kids just enjoy a good old fashioned streetball game...touch or tackle. We only have 16 kids and when we do it, only 12 showed up...so a good 6 on 6 game.

touchdown/sack celebrations, obstacle course (have to high knee through dummies, throw a pass, zig zag through cones and tackle dummies), punt/pass/kick competition
