Hi guys I have been playing with the search engine for the last half hour I am starting to think I am a moron!
Any way someone posted back a while ago a list that he had for parents the detailed what getting recruited by a major NCAA school looked liked. IE: getting letters, phone calls, body type, grades.
I have a parent who is hasseling me because....... I won't start calling big schools on his sons behalf.
The kid is a QB good kid, nice, smart but he is 5'8 and slow with not a great arm. The family has been to every camp under the sun and still thinks the kid is gonna make it. He is barely a starter in HS will leave with a nice HS feel to his career but will not play NCAA (maybe 1 every 5 years makes it from up here and not to a D1 school either)
How do I tell them this and show them a process VS me just being a jerk?

Get film of a D1 guy in HS...and show them that film....compared to their son. Also, do a little research of the height and weight of all starting D1 QBs. Compare that to his bio. Don't rub this in their face...just give them facts.
Follow through on their wishes. Send film, do what you gotta do as a coach. If the colleges don't pick him up...at least you made an effort...and the parents can't say..."the coach didn't do {censored} for me".

D1's are evaluating kids year round. During the season...GA's do a lot of it on new tape that comes in...then they pass along to coord if it passes their test. But during the season...it slows down...they have already targeted who they are on for this year. Send during their Junior season. If it's a JUCO..send anytime...Same with d-2 1-aa..... good luck.....parents really need to be more realistic. But ask the parents for a list of 5-10 schools they would like their son's tape sent out to...and do it. Show them the postage receipts ... whatever you need to get them off your back. When they don't receive a phone call....they cannot complain to you. You don't need to send out to 80 schools...but definitely have them handpick a few for you to send out to.
