We won 46-6 to move to 6-0 for the season. We were up 26-0 in the first quarter- which put us at mercy rule- where the opposition chose to freeze the score and then opted to go to running clock the second half. The reported score was 26-0- when you are up by over 21- the opposition has choice to “freeze” score- new rule. “True” score- 46-6. Every single non striped player got to carry the ball. Improved special teams this week- got onside kick back- just missed a second (both in first quarter) which was point of emphasis. First team defense gave up just 3 first downs- pitched shut out.
Team we played- I dont get it, 4 kids at least 4-5 inches taller than my biggest kids- really good looking slasher back- Almost looked like a 7-8 grade team- they werent very good- were in GAM almost the entire game. We didnt bother to wedge them or sweep them- but everything else was there for the taking -they even morphed into a true 10-1 for a series or 2.
Had just 1 penalty for 10 yards- but did have 2 turnovers for second straight week- to bring us to 4 for the season- 1 fumble by a backup running back and 1 interception as well. We will be working on special teams, pass defense and putting in a few nuances on offense as we prepare for a playoff and tournament run. Our second team defenders need work. Offense was clicking on all cylindars.

Way to go great job! You continue to roll & it seems your team is just improving each week. Are there any challenges left in your league?

Joe,
Oh yes, in the playoffs and even one matchup we will probably face with undefeated and unscored upon team to win the Division title and advance to the playoffs AS well as a probable out of league trouney if the parents are up for it (their choice) Think there are 98 teams in the league, maybe 40 in our age group.
This week vs .500 team and of course our sister team, I fielded two evenly divided 5-6th grade teams this season is also undefeated and in our Division- We may have to play them- although in scrimmages we have been the better team- They are well coached- run our stuff, 3 coaches who played college ball- HC is 9 year NFL vet ;D

Competition is great! That is why we coach, & I know you relish going against a quality opponent. I am sure you will have your team ready for the task. I enjoy that part the most. I look forward to seeing your results, it just proves good coaching works at every level.
We have no competition here in Charlotte, & to be honest I am disappointed. We actually had a parent complain on Saturday that we simply overwhelm our opponents. We ran a total of 6 plays on offense, for 5 td's. Mind you, we are not a select team. We take whatever players we get. You know this year I have struggled with numbers. We have 19 on our roster, & when I look at the other teams we play here in Charlotte they have just as much talent as we do. Pasco Paul & I always say we could take most of the other teams & win with them.
This coming Saturday we finally play a decent team, they are traveling from over near the coast. They will be 6 months older then us, but that doesn't bother me. We need a test. We also have 2 Private School teams on the schedule( 1 coached by a former Carolina Panther). so I am hoping we will get a real look at our team prior to regionals.
Good Luck You are doing a great job as usual!

We are now 6-0, won 38-8 against a team that beat us last year. Practice got rained out on Thursday so I was nervous going into this game.
This was the first game a team played a 5 man front against us, it was a breath of fresh air not having to block a loaded front.
They played a triangle off tackle to stop our Buck sweep and they spied our motion back on every play. Big mistake. We killed them with Rocket and Counter.
Kids played great.

Blue Devils beat the Spartans 22-6 in the Warriors Pee-Wee Div. The Spartans were the only team to give us competition in the 1st half of the season, but in this return match we clobbered them. One of our star players (starting C) was out seeing his father off before military deployment; he's our most versatile player who is usually the answer to, "Who is our back-up at...?" Mr. I Forgot (the one who I've mentioned is a good athlete but scatterbrained), who was suited up for the last game but sat out complaining of a sore nose after warmups, did not show.
Our starting QB danced around with the opening kickoff until he got loose down a sideline and scored. An over-tackle dive produced the extra point. Then they mishandled our kickoff -- seems they tend to underestimate our kicker -- and wound up inside their 5 yard line. On second down our pursuit produced a safety. We got good field position and quickly another touchdown. Our #29 is a little guy but a real shark as a lead blocker from the backfield on the edge, sometimes knocking off 2 inside-out pursuers in sucession. PAT pass was in our tall starting DE's hands but dropped.
So we kick off again, this time a chip with backspin that brought the ball to us. Another drive, another TD, and this time the pass for the extra point, same out route, was reeled in. 22 points and we're into the mercy rules. It didn't help the Spartans on their first snap when our player pulled down an interception. They had a total of 3 snaps for the half.
The special defense dictated by the mercy rules (and a lot of unofficial mercy in the form of benefit of the doubt) allowed the Spartans plenty of possession in the 2nd half, and they ultimately got their TD early in the 4th Q, taking off the mercy rules. That was also the first score against us the whole season. Then one of our twins mishandled the onside kickoff, but the Spartans on the resulting possession made little progress against our regular defense.
Our OL gave up some penetr'n early in the game but patched that up quickly, and our DL continued to stonewall them inside.
So we're 6-0 and have clinched at least a tie for the championship.

Good job, congratulations! Thanks, I'm actually starting to believe it, in that I may have helped correct some misexecutions. Of course you don't know who's responsible when things don't go wrong!

That's what video is for. Do you have any? Even with the roll we have been on we still go over the video to correct mistakes. I know it's hard to get any good video from a public park, sometimes a parent will take video, see if you can borrow it.
