Didn't want to derail the cramps/dehydration thread, but what do teams eat at halftime? Before reading this forum, I'd never heard of a half-time snack, but I'm interested. No school budget, so looking for something easy/cheap that kids can bring.

-16-20 oz sports drink with added salt -2 fig newtons -choose 2: 1/2 of a pear, banana, apple, or about 1 cup grapes, must mix -- not a whole banana
Alternative: - drink - GORP (good old raisins and peanuts) plus some MnMs

Back in 79-80 I played NAIA football in WV. We had canned Coke and Hershey bars or cut up oranges and apples. You had to beat our starting TB to the locker room if you wanted a coke though, he always sprinted to the locker at halftime and filled a travel bag full of coke!

We do oranges and gatorade (powder mixed in tank). I do wonder if the oranges' acid could be bad...

gatorade & a combo of bananas/oranges/grapes/apple. The saltine cracker thing sounds like something we should try. Also like the peanuts & m/ms & raisins.... would like to see some reasearch on what is most effective. Im sure somebody has done a research on this somewhere.... i know it's not rocket science but it would be good info to get an edge on your opponent coming out in 2nd half.
