Film exchange. Watch our film. Breakdown opponents' films. Staff meeting. Start game-practice planning for the week. Show our film to team.
If we lost Friday I'm borderline suicidal and miserable to be around.
Last night we took 90-minute Big Yellow Taxi ride north for game. This morning I had to drive 40 minutes south for film exchange.
If I ever get out of coaching, or at least being header, this will be why.

It would sure be nice to have hudl for everyone and exchange by internet. That will be sweet. The problem is that the files are typically too big. We're about 5-10 years off technology wise before that happens. I also can't stand virtual meetings.

I will trade almost every game online this year with DSV Anywhere. And the files aren't too big. I can trade a single game in less than a second. I can download that game in less than 10 minutes. Case in point. Last year we played for a championship. We traded with the other team. I had 6 games from them by 9am the morning after the semi final game. 6 games. In my computer ready to watch. I never jumped in the car. The technology is here right now. I completely disagree with the "5-10 years off" statement.

Every team has to upload his games.

I know in our region we play some schools out in the middle of no where that may or may not have access to high speed internet outside of the school. Not everyone has several thousands of dollars to spend on video editing equipment yet. We have none at our school right now and manage to get by without it.

All you need is a camera and a firewire cord (and laptop). If you have that...you can trade online. Contact your local DSV rep and ask for DSV Express. It is a completely FREE (I can't explain free any better) piece of software.
I took the thread as "we're" meaning everybody, but I get what you're saying...could have meant himself.

vswap.net has been a big help for us. Very simple interface, uploading and downloading process. Our entire league has an agreement that we will use the program. Works very well and cuts down on time.

We trade hard drives at the game. Do a live capture and down load directly to the external hard drive. This is for that nights game. We trade 3 games. Previous 2 games we will trade early online so we can get a head start for the up coming weekend. JH coaches input data on Thursday night.

All of this is great if you AND YOUR OPPONENTS have the capability, the financial wherewithal and knowledge, to do that.

Probably the only advantage to being in the most overpopulated state in the US. All games, scouting and film exchange (before playoffs) no more than 15 mins away.

ya the technology is available.... if school districts would jump in line...(mainly if coaches would jump on board and spend some booster club or budget $$ to get the right software..it would make things more efficient and life easier for the asst /jr high coaches).

I have a no carry over rule for myself. we lose on friday I have about two hours to feel sorry for myself because when the clock strikes midnight it is over. I think the worst thing coaches do is fail to compartmentalize their lives. a loss means the pout or are angry or this case borderline suicidal. saturday morning win or lose the night before I wakeup and decide this is going to be a great day. I do it every day. thoughts are things and we can control them. every coach should read thought vibration by William walker Atkinson.
