Our staff has been approached about a job in GA....what kind of situation is Brunswick HS? Do they have some athletes? A good mix of income levels? Pretty decent district to work for? Any info or opinions would be welcome....

They have a great RB and some good athletes coming back. Most of the rich kids go to the other school in the county, but there is a pretty good mix of kids.

If I was offered the job, I would take it in a heartbeat. Major HS there, some kids do end up elsewhere, but good talent year in and year out.

I don't have a dog in the hunt so I can post this objectively. What kind of facilities do they have compared to their district opponents? What's the teaching load like compered to the opposing schools? These questions tell you about the school's commitment.
What;s the pay like compared to the cost of living and compared to neighboring school districts? Don't kid yourself. Money does matter.
What happened to the old staff?
Does the school have success in other sports? If so, what sports? Success in "athletic" sports like basketball and track means that you have a chance. Beware of schools that win in "country club" sports (tennis, golf) but not "athletic" sports. Also beware of schools where the girls teams win while the boys teams lose.
The great thing about this board is that there's a chance that these questions may be answered candidly.

They are a South GA school which means in this state. Football means more than LIFE!
In other sports, they have the state champion Track and Field 4x1 , at 41.39 seconds, all play football.
Phatnom, this school has it all, Top Pay, we get paid very well in GA plus the booster club here will kick in.
The last HC left his record was 37-28, to return to his old school closer to home.
South GA is just like Texas, FA, Illinois.
Their region is ok, they do have the state-runner up in their region and the state champions from 3 years, but Brunswick can play with those schools.
It's all about Football and Jesus down there.
Take the job, money, talent and facilities won't be an issue.

Will be hard to ever knock off Camden Co in the region....Plus you are right next door to the hardest Region in the County with Lowndes, Valdosta, Tift, Coffee......

Camden is actually 5A and Brunswick is 4A. They still have Ware Co. in the region and they are very tough.

Ware County and Statesboro, but Brunswick is a playoff school every year and both of those schools can be beat.
