I am two days into our draft evaluation. There are 105 kids 17 of them are strippers. 5 teams I won't be able to pick until after the first 40 are gone. the first two get up to 8 strippers each which will leave me with a choice between a big supper slow stripper or a semi fast average small kid which would you chose? I have been told you cant coach size but I am almost leaning towards the scrappy little guys? Which route would you go?

What the devil is a stripper? Your team isn`t full of naked ladies, is it?

If it was it wouldn't be Dismal! LOL
Kid's over the weight limit for their age, linemen only.

In general, I have found that most important physical attributes for football players are 1. Overall athleticism; 2. Raw speed; 3. Strength; 4. Size - in that order. More importantly, though, I have found non-physical attributes such as character, integrity, discipline, work ethic, etc., to be far more indicative of being a good football player than anything physical.
The bottom line is, I wouldn't worry too much about the "measurables" - just evaluate who you think will be a good football player (and make sure at some point you fill all the holes - i.e. have at least a couple players that fit your archetype for each position), and then pick those kids. Good luck.

What the devil is a stripper? Your team isn't full of naked ladies, is it? I think our original poster needs a little spelling practice on consonants after long vowels. I found out about stripers in 2007 only by reading about them on Delphi's single wing etc. forum. Meanwhile I'd tried to do a player the favor of removing "a loose piece of tape" he had running mid-sagitally on his helmet that I thought was just decorative. He told me it was supposed to be left on, so I tried to plaster it down better. But yeah, when I saw mention in this thread of "strippers", my thought still went initially to....

Well, now that we`ve cleared that up... My league uses big X`s of tape, not stripes, so I`ve never heard of stripers. Also, the league runs in French, so there.
Anyways, I`ve found size to be mostly meaningless among youth linemen, so great is the disparity in their technique. Also, most fat youth players aren`t strong in any proportion to their size. So, when looking for lineman, I`m more concerned with their ability to get into a good stance and their first step or two, these give a decent indication of their ability.
If you don`t get to pick out of the top 40, try to nab any good ones leftover, then forget about it. Bad youth linemen are worth a dime a dozen in the draft, and slightly less on the field. Littler kids with good technique can do the job, or you can recoach the big kids from nothing.

Yeah coach I saw that and my first thought was "do you need any assistants? I will be there tomorrow!" lmao.
But back to the original question, its been said before but I second just picking the best "athlete" if you can find one. Get the kid that looks like he can follow directions and get into and out of his stance quickly.

Yeah coach I saw that and my first thought was "do you need any assistants? I will be there tomorrow!" lmao. But then comes the realiz'n that they'd be rather under-developed, and then mostly male...so the disappointment has already hit before finally, following the field, panting all the way, there comes the late thought that it's a spelling error. But maybe it should be "strippers". After all, it looks as much like a strip of tape as a stripe, which I usually think of as a mark painted on. I know a young man who as a young child was exhibitionistic, and the interesting thing is that he lost that tendency at just about the age where he would've been a Mighty Mite had he played football.

casec11, Our first two A team or select teams get the best 40 first then we get 12 next team gets 10 next gets 8 then I get 2 next team 1 and next team 1, we go 2,1 and 1 until we are at 20 each.

So it sounds like you are in the same boat as the rest of the league. Select teams should get the best 40.
