Two years ago I left coaching to pursue money in the private sector. After two years of being miserable I am getting back in! I was married this summer and my wife teaches in Lubbock, Texas, and I was fortunate enough to get a teaching position here at a 5A high school. I spoke to the head coach about helping out in any way possible, and it looks like some things are possible.
While I still did clinics and camps the last two years, I missed building the relationships with the kids and coaches. I am looking forward at a new adventure!
Thank God for Coach Huey and this board, because it allowed me to stay somewhat in the know!
Good Luck to y'all!

Good luck and congrats. Its encouraging as a young coach that even after pursuing the money you came back to the game...makes me feel better about the career decision!

Coach, I got "out" of teaching/coaching in 2000 because I thought I wanted to make more money, which I did, but found the civilian world of work very unfulfilling. That is when I knew I was born to coach. I missed it a great deal and was able to get back in. It did hurt my career as far as upward mobility because I was out 4 years but have coaching again since 2004 and haven't looked back.
Good luck.

Way to go coach, good luck!
I am also back after two years off. Got a new job and had to get my feet under me as well as my staff lined out. I just got the green light to coach again and I'm pumped!
After 8 years of dbl wing, the new coaching staff I'm with is running a spread offense, exciting stuff for me!!
