[imghttp://assets.nydailynews.com/img/2009/01/11/alg_bednarik.jpg][/img] infamous chuck bednarik "this game is ****ing over" shot. carlisle indian football. probably my favorite shot; wish I had a bigger version of it. jim thorpe, always the greatest. amazing story behind this team, check out the lars anderson book on them. the school and american indian policy was beyond depressing at the time, but great football prevailed. carlisle indian team with pop warner and a team dog! obviously also a famous one. good story behind it in the espn "the greatest game ever played" special. less cropped version of the same shot. i can't find a good one of the tcu locker room before playing jim browns syracuse team, but thats a classic too.

second attempt on bednarik over gifford "this ****ing game is over". only thing thats a bummer is it reminds me of the concussion problem in football especially at that time. "]

"] I don't think Bednarik said that after this play. He said it while he was sitting on Jim Taylor's chest as time ticked off in the 1960 championship game.

I`ll go with Montana and Walsh kneeling on the sideline, a good father-son metaphor

Saw one of Dick Butkus sitting on the sidelines with a sideline jacket over his shoulders, hands taped and bloody, covered in dirt and mud, visible breath from the cold. I can never find the damn thing, but it was just a still shot from the ESPN sportscentury top 50 thing and it honestly gives me goosebumps.

Thanks for the pics, I'm saving them. Here's one of my favorites, but it's not quit as motivational.

My all time favorite football pic isn't one that's famous or you'll be able to find on the internet. It's a picture of my Dad taking the field his senior year of high school for the same high school I played for and it hung in my room when I was a kid. I don't know what ever happened to it, but I would give one of my kidneys to have a copy of it again.

I have a similar pic as my favorite. I have the original picture of the defensive team of my dad's team from 1959. They went undefeated that season and only had 6 points scored against them in a snow game. ( a whole other story). It sits next to the conference championship trophy from that year in my living room. Very important to me.

Re the Starr QB sneak -- I am always reminded of Jerry Kramer's season diary Instant Replay and his pre-game remarks about going against Jethro Pugh;
"With a name like that, if they call him on a tackle once fans will think they heard it a few times, and if they call him twice they'll think they heard it all afternoon...."

superpower, did you see "harvard beats yale 29-29"? also, love this one: I envy someone who can command the attention of those around him like Eddie Robinson did.

I am not a Notre Dame or Penn State fan, but that may be the coolest pic I have ever seen.
