Years ago I would have said I prefer two sessions separated by several hours. I think from a concentration standpoint it is far better. However, where I coach now I do not have that option. Geographically large district, rural, kids are bussed in from the towns for practice if they cannot drive/get a ride. We are locked into 7:30ish-12:00. We go for 2 hours, take a break, and go another 90min- to 2 hours.
I think there are pros and cons to both. In my case I live out of town and another assistant lives 40 min away. It works better for everyones travel including the kids. I think for kids' work schedules it works out better. Kids can keep their jobs a little longer which is (let's face it) important to them. THey can go to work by 1:00 and still get a full day in. Obviously the downside is concentration.
