None of those offers to very young players are binding anyway so I don't know if this rule is going to change anything there. Under present rules schools can't make a written offer until just before a player's junior season so this talk about banning offers to 8th and 9th graders is window dressing. That doesn't mean that I'm against the new rule. Right now there are juniors who think that they're in and play like they're protecting themselves for school and there's no room for late-blooming seniors.

They need to keep the same rules but do an early signing date like BB. This would eliminate much of the bs and coaches better make sure they want a recruit if the offer him...

Jerry, I think they want to go the other way. I think that college coaches feel that they have to make too many early projections and that scholarship limits are making this tricky.

the easy way to deal with this is to rid of title 9 But that's not an option so back to the immediate topic.

the easy way to deal with this is to rid of title 9 Not only is this not going to happen, but I don't even see the correlation? To the point..i think this is good for sub collegiate coaches. People need to remember that NONE of these "commitments' are valid until the NLI is signed.

I have heard talk of a date say in August where the kids could committ and not have the pressure and the BS during the season..went to Fla camp a couple of few years ago and they offered a hs sophomore...he stuck w/ him committment too.. ps..I just read your pm..I think you are right

Heard on radio today NCAA (perhaps at behest of coaches) wants to ban all contact until after athlete's junior year.
How would that affect kids attending a college's summer camp before then, I wonder?

Right now there are juniors who think that they're in and play like they're protecting themselves for school and there's no room for late-blooming seniors. Bingo. If you don't play as a Jr and draw some attention then you can pretty much forget forget about having a scholie chance at an FCS or FBS school unless you come from a program known for turning out studs at your position.
