We had our first day of camp today. Went well. We had 18 kids show up (5th and 6th graders). I think we have the chance to be pretty good. Our backfield is loaded...the kid who will ultimately be our A back is a special kid...we'll have to get him the ball a lot. Looking pretty thin on the line, though...we have about 6 bigger kids who can play there but after that, there is a pretty good drop off.
Tomorrow, we are going to install Tight Rip 44 Power and Tight Liz 55 Power from our base double wing set. Thursday, we are going to install the base defense (WT 6) versus the Wishbone, split, and twins.
It really was a lot of fun today.

Glad to hear it! You must have a pretty good bunch if you're installing this quickly. The start of the season is so fresh with possibilities.

Out of curiosity...what type of blocking schemes will you use?

Out of curiosity...what type of blocking schemes will you use? We are pretty much going to be down, down, kick out. Will teach G.O.D. later in the year. Right now, we are just running against our front (Wide Tackle 6).

Ask around and try to dtermine what other teams are running. At your age group...it would be a good idea to show them how to run against a 50 front...

Thing is, the 50 versus the double wing is really easy because you have double teams across the board. The even fronts, especially with shaded players and players in gaps, makes things tougher mentally for the kids to process.
