Guys -
One of the teams I'm going to be coaching this year is a 5th/6th grade team of probably around 13-15 kids.
We don't have any handshields, stepovers, cigar dummies or anything like that. We also have a pretty limited budget.
Does anyone have some ideas on what types of bags we should get, how many, and cheap places to buy them?
Thanks!

Try www.asa-football.com for inexpensive equipment (best prices I've found - I got their name from Dave Cisar). And try www.mysportsdreams.com for what I consider to be an easy and painless (i.e. no selling candy or other goods you probably don't want and no working at washing cars or anything like that) fundraising program. I'm using both of these this year for the first time, so I can't totally vouch for the results just yet, but in both cases I'm pretty impressed with what I've seen so far. Depending on how many kids you have and what you're budget is, I'd shoot for 2-3 stepovers (half-rounds), 2-3 shields, and 2-3 full-round (or stand-up or what you called cigar) dummies - in that order of importance.

Thanks, Doug...ASA looks like a winner. Has anyone ever used these integrated practice pants (hip, tail, knee, and thigh pads sewn in)? www.asa-football.com/product.html?id=130Looks like a good deal for about $14.

Delta
We did the season before last. Great for the younger guys, not so good for 12 & up.

We have the integrated pants for a gr. 5/6 team. Fantastic! Otherwise is a topology game for them to put the pads in, and some of them don't have the kind of spacial awareness. Ours had thigh and knee sewn in, with tail and kidney pads being snap-on. They were washer/dryer safe. The whole league used them for practices and games. Only problem: kids would wear the pants backwards thinking the tail pad was meant to protect... something else.
