I've been at this for a few seasons (53) and lately I've had a number of old players ask if I have there team picture. I usually do but can't remember all of there names and the years they played. Today a sister of one of the guys asked me for a copy for the family as he has died and they want to display those years that were so important to him. So here is what I suggest to all of you. Each year take your team roster and tape it to the back of your team pictures. Then 25 years from now you can help them out with no problem. Every one will be happy you can help out.

Go a step further and scan it on your computer and hard drive. then you have it in top quality forever.

Computer - hard drive- I'm so old we had blackboard/white chalk, green board/yellowchalk, overheads/greased pencils, now if we don't have cutups and a powerpoint to teach a play the players yawn. Over 50 years may stress the hard drive some. lol

It's a really good idea that I already stole from a guy I coached wrestling with. Used to have all of them on the wall at one of my stops. Kids liked it as it gave them something to look at on days we had some free time after tests. In fact, I have a team picture of every team I've ever coached except 4 or 5. Haven't had anyone ask for one yet, but I'm sure it will happen.

One of the school here in town does the same thing. One of my friends teaches/coaches there. He has all the team pictures he could find from years back to now and has also included single portrait shots of players that went onto play University and College ball on the walls. Pretty cool stuff.

Great suggestions. I wish I had team pictures to this point, but I've only put 8 years in so the next 45 will build up a nice collection!

Our former hc did this and we'll continue to do the same:
He took a quick individual digital pic of every kid with their jersey on and helmet in hand. It was then very easy to forward the pic of the kid for press releases, scholarship awards, etc.

We have all of our kids and coaches names printed right on the bottom of the picture. Doesn't cost a penny more.

I keep every years team photo and a scrapbook I make, but never thought of keeping a roster. This is a GREAT idea!

At the end of every Year I Take a manilla envelope & fill it with pictures, rosters newspaper clippings, scouting reorts, etc. Put the Year & Record on it & stick it in the filing cabinet. 18 years & running. Its already saved my memory a few times.
