Urban Meyer threatens reporter

I love it. Just sticking up for his player and what is right. Good for him.

Did you guys read the original article? What was wrong with it? What was taken out of context? Here is what makes the article fine with me, "Thompson’s comment was either intentional or he meant to say Brantley’s a more conventional style of quarterback"

Not only does he not attempt to take anything out of context, but he even attempts to explain what Thompson was trying to convey.

They got around to it eventually after starting the article making it sound like Thompson is blaming Tebow for his own problems as a receiver. Doug Gottlieb also just said that the reporter played up the controversy by Twittering the juicy stuff.

If you're looking for somebody to sympathize with the reporter you've probably come to the wrong place. I read the original article. It comes off as "Thompson Rips Tebow". Burying an explanation later in the story doesn't change that especially after the writer reportedly Twittered a tease featuring the sensationalized version. The kid ended up taking a lot of crap for an innocent comment but I guess it's OK because look at all of the hits on The Orlando Sentinal's site. Urban Meyer's stock went up in my book.

I don't need anyone to sympathize with a reporter. In fact, I generally hate the media because they all have agendas. The article can be looked at more than one way. I looked at it as more of a piece on Thompson being excited about having an offense and a QB to spread the ball around as opposed to ripping Tebow.

If you would've read this article not knowing how Meyer reacted, would you have gotten the same impression?

This piece was news before the Meyer story. It was all over talk radio that a Florida WR had criticized Tebow. I got the idea that UF fans did not take it well. I think that the reporter knew exactly what the reaction would be and that Meyer gave him what he deserved.

The funny thin is thompson the wr was not ripping tebow likethe reprter said. He was just saying that John Brantley is a more traditional QB. The newspaper writer. Made out to be more then it was. Did he do it on purpose. Probably. Becuase he wanted some attention. Well he got it,.and almost a BUTT KICKIN as well.

Everyone has their opinions on everyone, but I can tell you first hand from my experience that Urban Meyer is far from what you just said about him. It is wrong to say that about someone you don't know. What you hear is not always the case.

I never get into talking badly about other coaches. That is not my thing, but I will defend them if I have something positive to say about them as a person or as a coach.

Urban Meyer wins and just like coaches before, during or after him, there are those out there that will say such negative things about them because they are jealous and are insecure about themselves as a football coach.

Agree. Meyer comes off looking bad for ripping the little reporter (no offense media people but we don't trust you) for doing his job. I am not defending the reporter, but I think Meyer should have known better than to say anything. There is nothing to gain. He should talk to the player, not the media.
