ESPN doesn't have good track record with full-length feature films (think Brian Dennehy as Bob Knight in "Season on the Brink").
But this is going to be a theatrical release.
Think DeNiro can pull it off?

They picked the right guy, if anybody can do it its Bobby D. Best character actor ever in my opinion.

Being produced by the Bristol four-letter network but going into theaters instead of on cable TV. Due out in 2012.
If they wouldn't let me play the part, DeNiro next best choice.

I like Sabol's quote of Lomardi, "a football coach is one half teacher and one half son of a b#@$h!"

DeNiro? Wow..... For the 75th NFL anniversary, I remember Jerry Stiller doing a pretty mean Lombardi portrayal

Classic. I had forgotten that - thanks for posting it, brophy.
The film is going to cover Lombardi's Packer years (1959-1967).
Lombardi was 46 when he first went to Green Bay. Jerry Stiller is 83 now, might have trouble pulling that off.

DeNiro is 66 and doesn't quite look like Lombardi (but I'm sure he can pull off whatever role he gets) Just saying Stiller did a great job.

Well, he's already managed to "pull off" Jake LaMatta ("Raging Bull") and Al Capone ("The Untouchables") so I wouldn't bet against him.
Not any actors I can think off that DO resemble Lombardi except maybe Ernest Borgnine, and he's older than Jerry Stiller (93).

I'm looking forward to this flick. I called and told my Dad this is coming out and he's agreed to go along to see it. It should be at least decent with DeNiro in it.

I think DeNiro can pull it off. Having seen Raging Bull and many of his other films he is one of the best actors alive. If anyone can "become Lombardi" it's DeNiro.

That's awesome! Haven't even seen a preview yet but I'm all kinds of excited. Thanks for the heads up. I wonder how it will do in theatres. It seems like every other movie they've done like this came on ESPN the channel. Movies like The Junction Boys and 3. Should be interesting.

Production company may still need a casting director for the project.

"Jessica Alba, Stacy Dash, Beyonce, Eva Mendez"
Brophy just became my favorite person ever. Throw Adriana Lima into that mix and we've got it all.

Ernest Borgnine played Lombardi in a made-for-tv movie, late 60's early 70's. Did a great job.
