At our state playoffs this year a number of teams, instead of announcing starters, had their team walk out together in a show of team unity.
For those of you that do this, how do you phrase it for the announcers?

The school I am at had always introduced individual starters. After my first year I saw that this just brought attention to the individual and not the team. So two years ago we had the announcer our starters before we even got to the field and then announced our team as we ran onto the field together. The players were pretty mad about not getting introduced one at a time and really didn't understand why we were focusing on team. They struggled all year and we finished 3-6. This past season we continued to have the team run on the field together. However, about half way through the year they finally got it. They began to understand it was all about the team and not the individual. They started to a little thing were they linked arms and swayed back and forth and started taking slow steps and then they all come out streaming through the breakthrough. Some peopel may say that it is no big deal if you announce individual players or the team, but for us, it was all the difference in the world. We went from 3-6 to 13-1 with basically the same kids. They started caring more about the team than themselves and it made for a very fun year.

And here comes your "Team Name". I think some kids are just so worried about hearing their name but fans and look at the roster and see who is on the field. It is about the team concept, everyone is important.

At a State Championship Game, I think starters deserve to be recognized. Many are Seniors and the experience will last a life time. just mho

Have both teams go out in entirety like Oregon and Boise State did before coin toss in display of sportsmanship.
Oops...never mind.
