When I was in high school I was a student coach and our head coach told me to put a tape together for our home games. No swears no RAP music. So it consisted of GUNS AND ROSES Welcone to the jungle Van halen Top of the World Right Now, Dreams, Jump Bon Jovi Livin n a prayer, U Give life a bad name AC/DC Thunderstruck Players liked it. One time they tried to give me a song that had swears in it. I listened to it before I put it on the tap,and told them NO SWEARS. The tape was great until the pom pom squd had to come in and turn our stuff off so they could play there crap. That lasted one game. HC said you come in while we are warming up you dance to our music.

I coach a college team in the UK. And there is a big divide between the rap and metal fans. So we start rap and move to metal normally. So I take requests and vary it up a bit
Never Scared - Bonecrusher Here Comes The Boom - Nelly Next Episode - Dr Dre Don't Stop Believing - Journey (Team Anthem) Asian Hooker - Steel panther Bodies Hit The Floor - Drowning pool Redneck - Lamb Of God

Gucci Mane is a very popular rapper with the kids. He has an instrumental version of his latest album- it is clean, and the kids love it

I would absolutely love it if somebody could give me some examples of what constitutes "thug" or "gangster" music. Especially with another poster specifying "no rap music".
"We don't want to promote that"
Jesus......

Without getting into the generation gap and such, my Principal and school board would hand me my head (and job) on a platter if I played most of the music listed on this thread because of the lyrics. You have to play what your bosses accept first, not the kids, if you want to stay around. We typically don't play anything, although at my previous school the band had a great intro by their drummers. I miss that.

#1 by Nelly. That' was the song that got him his first Super Bowl performance.
Forever by Drake is pretty good (based on Lebron James)

"We don't want to promote that" Jesus...... Wow. You're really going to ask that? Look at some of the songs and what they are about. Some have good beats and sound good, but their underlying meaning is hooking up with hookers or beating women or doing drugs. Is that what you want to promote to your players and have the fans leave with that vision of your program?

Right--- But the old "hard rock standards" such as: "Welcome to the Jungle" (if you got the money honey we have your disease...want to watch you bleed...feel my serpentine, make you scream...) "Thunderstruck" (Ladies who gave a good time, broke all the rules, played all the fools, Lady's were too kind can I come again please..." Those are wholesome Ward cleaver type ditties.... Just pointing out the inconsistency there. How about this to fire you up instead or I am fired up!!!!

We don't use any music. Just don't see any need. The thing about using stuff like this to get "amped up" at home games is what do you do on the road?

What..is this budget thing that you speak of I do think that some background noise for the fans mingling makes it seem more spirited...

Your goal is to win every home game. So bringing in some music to hopefully attain this goal is nothing but a plus in my opinion. Besides, I want the music for the game atmosphere. I do it not only for the players, but the fans and people in attendence to keep them interested and having fun as well. Fan attendence increases players hope and only contributes to the success of the program. If they feel like the community is there behind them on game night, they might work just a bit harder.

Away games count in the standings, too. Playoff games may be on the road. I'm certainly not against having a great game-day atmosphere. Hey, I became a Philadelphia Flyers fan back in the Kate Smith "God Bless America" days. The question of what's better for the fans and what's better for the players is different, thoigh, IMO.

That Drowning Pool song drives me crazy. I can't stand it, just trying WAY too hard to be 'hard'. But, like I said in one of the other 8 pregame music threads, I'm a music snob.
I like the drumline band idea, that would absolutely get me going.

I'm sure you've heard the old adage that you want to win ALL of your home games and atleast half of your away games. I just meant that in the case of the home games, I'll do as much as I can to stack the odds in our favor.

It's all pretty much just noise to me, don't pay much attention unless it's TOO loud.
So long as it's "school-appropriate," let kids choose - they're the ones you're trying to "amp up" anyway.

True story. We were playing in a quaterfinal playoff game. We had mainly inner city kids on the team, and they ask us if they could make a pregame cd. We said absolutey, but due to the insanity of the buidup that week nobody ever checked the cd.
So......we have one side of the stands one color, and the other side of the stands another color and Ludicrus cussing up a storm on the loudspeaker as our kids are getting jacked up nuts. The faces from across the field was priceless. I know I turned as red as the sun though...I was embarrassed no doubt. Not at the kids, or our fans, but at the fact that we as a staff didn't do what we were supposed to do with editing the music.
We won, so I got over it quick, and learned a valuable lesson.
