Has anyone here recently purchased parkas or capes for your players? I am looking for a quality product that fits over their pads and keeps them dry and relatively warm on those cold November playoff dates. Where did you get them and what kind of price did you pay per jacket? Thanks.

IMO, complete pain in the a$$. Players are more concerned about the stupid jackets than about the game. When I first came to this school they already had them. We used them once - never again unless the weather is really brutal. There is no way I personally would purchase a set.

Even in the Canadian snow belt, we never bothered after a couple miserable experiences. Damned things just got in the way. Not enough to go around, and all the starters want to be seen in them so they look like the pros, but then they're not ready to get on the field, so they get dropped on the ground, stepped on. Backups are smart enough to dress for the weather, not for the girls.

We got rid of them. Even in MN, we jsut got sick of having to clean up after the games. Also it burned us everytime we looked down the sideline and "Johnny Fifth String" had one on.

I just saw some in the Boathouse catalog. Have some of their jackets and they are very good. No idea on cost.

When I was in high school and we used the sideline jackets, every starter that was given a jacket was assigned a JV player that wouldnt be going into the game to basically hold on to it and wear it when the starter was playing, then would give it back to the starter when they came off the field. I was a JV player, and we were told and understood that us JV players were in charge of keeping the jackets off the ground and making sure all of them got back into the dressing room.
Just how we did things and it didnt ever seem to be a problem.
