sounds like he has also read some og mandino's books the recurring them of mr mandino is two fold 1. persistence pays off and 2. go the extra mile in everything you do. extra milers get noticed. I know 2 former NFL coaches and I would ask them when we talked about how they made cuts. it really came down to if you were an extra miler or not and your willingness to play special teams.
will smith is a very nice man. I heard him talk not to long ago at a high school. he talked about following your dream and dying on the tread mill.

Eminem has a lot of great lyrics. A lot of rage and drug problems, too, but there are artists in almost every genre that are messed up like that (Cash, Hendrix, Ozzy, etc). Just because it's labeled rap doesn't mean it's "bad" or not intelligent (go listen to Nas's Illmatic album then sit down and try writing poetry like that. It's not for stupid people).
Sorry, just had to say that. I can't stand when people say rap sucks and it's all about drugs, women, and getting money. Come to think of it, a lot of mainstream/classic songs are about drugs and women. Huh.

Uh, wouldn't have figured you as a guy who could find levity in Eminem lyrics.

normally I would not listen to that drug dealing, wife or girlfriend beating d.b. but I watched the movie 8 mile and listened to the lyrics of lose yourself. it really speaks as to you have got to take your swings when you get your shot. Uh, wouldn't have figured you as a guy who could find levity in Eminem lyrics.

I think before long they are going to create a jail just for rappers and their gun charges. the rap culture is the direct opposite of what kind of culture this country needs. now i am not talking all church on sundays. what i am talking about is respect for life. give me 50cent for a week in USMC boot camp and he would be crying for his momma. then you toss in the wanna be nfl players who put loaded guns in their pants and then wonder why they shoot themselves.

Yeah, I don't listen to a lot of the mainstream rap because of the "rap culture" like you described. Well, and because Lil' Wayne sucks, but whatever.
I think Eminem has good, creative lyrics though. He's one of the few good mainstream rappers out there. I think a lot of his lyrics get passed off simply because he's a rapper and that carries a certain stigma in the eyes of many, and that's unfortunate.
