Yea, well, I still hate you. Only because I'm jealous as he?!. Congratulations.

Been in the final mix twice and did not make it.... still think about it. But then again still think about the knockout girl who asked me at work if I lived near by. I explained I do and it was real nice place and then walked away, about three hours later reality hit.

I've been lucky enough to win 4 as HC.
It is fun but not life-changing. I found that out on the first one. The cooks at school gave me a free cookie the next week. It didn't change my tax bracket or anything. Just coach the heck out of your team and enjoy the journey. It is an awesome game.

as an assitant I have been to 4(2 of them we lost by a total of 11 points to city rivals) and we just won our 1st this past season. It was the school's 1st football championship since 1967 I believe. To my surprise I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. It was more a feeling of relief than anything.

Playing in a state game would be sweet (especially in this giant mess we have in CA), but getting a team to fully live up to it's potential would be more worthwhile.

1 as an asst. in the late 90's.
3 as a HC since 2004.
Lost three years in playoffs by 3,3, and 8...still losses!
Had teams, some of the above mentioned, that should have won it but for various reasons, key injuries, coaching decisions (by myself), or "ME" attitudes, we didn't get it done. I won't put all the blame on my kids or injuries. And I can't complain about those losses.
This year probably wouldn't say going in that we had a great shot at the whole thing, maybe a playoff game or two. But these kids did everything we asked them to do for the team and that started with the seniors and they were rewarded with a state title.
Also keep in mind that often it comes down to who on the bracket was knocked out ahead of you, either on your side or the other side. Sometimes things open up nicely. I won't complain about that "ME" attitude if it is taking out a stopper ahead of us!
Sometimes the ball will bounce your way, and that can be in a game you aren't even playing in!

Haven't won one yet, but we made it to the title game this year and lost by one TD. We were 3-6 last year. So to finish 13-1 this year was a pretty big deal.

3 Provincial championships. 1 as a player in the top division (11-0) and two as a coach (1 OC and 1 HC/OC) in th nine-man division. Lost one by 8 points the year after winning the second one as a coach.
