Guys, Hopefully this isn't posted somewhere else, I tried searching and couldn't find anything.....
My staff and I are interested in hosting a 7 on 7 tourney at our school this summer..hopefully with about 12 teams (including our team). We have a new turf field and some new facilities that would aid in us hosting this. My question is, how many of you have started from scratch and began hosting some form of a 7 on 7 tourney at your school and how did you go about getting the word out? I guess I am wondering what many of you think would be the best approach? Just sending out mass fliers to all the schools in the area, just do it via email, etc? For those of you that host a 7 on 7 date, do you charge and if so, how much? Any info you guys could offer would be great. Thanks

We charged $150.00 per team. I would advise you get all th emoney up front. We tried to make it a pretty elite tournament so we went after some of the top teams from our state and neighbooring states. Although we did not make much if any money. We "paid" for a few of the top tier teams in and had some bail on us. We used a local park with turf fields for our site but the parks and rec group charged through the nose and really did nothign more than provide insurance and fields. If you have the space for it do it at your place and you will make money. Make sure you get all the money up front and you have a plan bracket wise if a team bails (maybe have a 2nd team of your kids ready to go). Also get a kick ass concssion stand, do it on a hot day and you really will make some moeny. Our big loss came from Parks and Rec charging us for the number of teams registered, not paid. So no matter if they showed or not, paid or not they got paid for it. They handled all the money and registration which took some off of us but I dont think that is all that difficult, your only talking about 12 teams.
Anyway good luck to you.
