Gentlemen we are in the process of having a fund-raising auction to support the football program. We are asking for donations from the community for goods/services as well as coming up with things ourselves. I am looking for ideas on things to acution. Here is what I have so far: Lunch with a coach of your choosing My( the head coach's) parking spot for a week The opportunity to be the honorary head coach for a game The opportunity to be the honorary captain for the first home game The opportunity to have your child's jersey taken out of circulation for the upcoming season
Hopefully you get my drift. Please share any ideas that you have or things that you have done that were successful in doing something like this. As always Thanks In Advance

We put together little baskets with leftover gear, t shirts, sweatshirts, hats, anything we will not use any more. Easy way to get rid of old gear and usually go for $25-30. Try any golf courses, bowling alleys, driving ranges, restaurants for gift cards they might just give you. Don't forget about the women, try craft shops, candles, anything you might be able to get donated. Sometime just sideline passes or being able to sit in the box during a game can get some extra money. Hope this helps

I dont know where your located but if you live near an NFL team, if you go onto their website then community outreach, there is a spot were you can write them and ask for a donation.
off the top of my head - team signed helmet - season pass - coaches polo shirts - signed footballs

Items in ours:
- a week in a time share. If you have boosters, coaches, family that own a time share, usually they have some time built up that they are trying to get rid of.
- helmets. ask they guy that reconditions your helmets if he will return the rejected ones (especially if they will do it before they strip the paint) and put them up. You can get them signed by the coaches/players to add value.
- alternatively, those helmets can be reasonable converted into lamps.
-minihelmets from a college with a siggy. Any time we take a trip to visit, we get a mini helmet, ball cap, football of that college and get the header to sign it.
- if you are lucky enough to have players playing college ball, get them to sign a ball cap, football, mini helmet the next time they are home for the holidays.
- team pictures with siggys. if you win a championship especially, pictures are usually big items. get them matted and have the kids sign the matting.
- Team ball with siggys. Again especially if you win a chapionship.
- Old jerseys. If you have a regular replacement program, take those old ones and throw them in a basket with some other stuff.
- also with the jerseys, especially if you have a popular player, get another jersey or 2 with his number when you order, have that kid sign it and frame it. Depending on the jersey you buy, you might be able to get a cheaper reproduction to save some money.
- check to see if anybody in your area is trying to get some of your business (tshirts, decals, bannners, etc...) and see if they will offer some samples. Great way to let the public tell you which they like the best.
- If you have good support of your staff, get a business to offer some goody for a coach's wife (spa treatment, nail job, etc....) and let somebody treat your wives. People love to do that to show how much they like/support the coaches. (IE: Coach Header's Wife gets a massage and pedicure from Shade Tree Spa and Resort).

Another that we've always enjoyed is getting a round of golf donated from a local course. The winner gets to choose a partner and the 2 coaches to play against during the round. This is a win for the program and the coaches who get a free round of golf as well! (side bets have been added to the round in the past...)

An idea that always went over well at our auction was a dinner for two or four at different houses. If your wife is a good cook, or you can get it done on the grill, auction one of yourself. Hell, everyone wants to have dinner with the head coach so they can show them how much football they know. ;D
Our superintendent was a former coach and huge football guy. We could always count on him for a dinner for four to auction off. It would bring in about $800-$1000 bucks. Of course, he did it up right (steak, lobster, whiskey, wine, dessert, etc). Maybe your principal or another person in the school would like to help you out.
Another thing that might go well, is ask the local car dealers to maybe donate a 3 or 6 month lease on a car. Promise them some advertising at a game or something. That should bring in four digits for you.
Have your OL coach get a group of o-linemen and auction off a few hours of manual labor from them. People love to put good kids to work. There has to be some dude in the community that needs some rock hauled somewhere this summer or something.
Just a few ideas that were successful for us...
