I am sure I'm missing something. Let the debate begin!!

I like "All the Right Moves" with Craig T. Nelson as the coach and a very young Tom Cruise as the player.

If you want to see a good high school football documentary, track down Go Tigers. It follows MAssilon(Ohio) for a season.

Football in the 1970's.. spin off one the cowboys.. Nick Nolte....
Junction boys - "Book is better - Read the book in one day.. could not put it down"...
If you like a good documentary "The Season".. Story of North Penn High School (PA)... Came out in 2000... Pretty cool, raw behnind the scenes stuff..
Mike Petine the coach (Father is PA Legend coach from CB West)...
Mike Petine is not the DC for Rex Ryan and the Jets. Good high school documentary though....

The Season was very good. I remember watching it when it was on ESPN. However the best football documentary I've ever seen was shot at the same time and is about his dad and CB West. It's called "The Last Game." You can pick it up on Amazon for like $6. It's well worth it.

How about the mini movie from ESPN...PLAYMAKERS! WORST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Playmakers was actually a short lived series on ESPN. It actually got pretty good ratings and reviews when it came out, and would have been extended for season #2, but the NFL pressured ESPN to take it off the air because, although it was not the NFL, they were afraid people would still think NFl teams and players were just like the TV show. Since the NFL is so much of ESPN, the espn front office people pulled the show after the first season to keep the NFL happy I absolutely loved this show, it came out when i was a freshman or sophomore, and i watched it religiously. Good stories, and a decent amount of football... A Man soap opera lol

"Brian's Song"
"Knute Rockne: All American"
"Remember the Titans" - reminds me of my senior year in HS
"We Are Marshall" - I was recruited by and wound up playing against Marshall during that era and Matthew McConnaughey is NOTHING like Jack Lengyel.
"Paper Lion"

Here's an underrated one probably not a lot of guys have seen: "Trouble Along the Way" (1953).
Starred John Wayne as a divorced, shady football coach who is simultaneously trying to maintain custody of his daughter and rebuild the woeful program at a tiny Catholic college, and becomes embroiled in a scandal. Co-starred Donna Reed of "It's a Wonderful Life" fame.
Film is also memorable because in it Duke's character, Steve Williams, utters the line "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing" that later stuck to Vince Lombardi like his undershirt.
Actually the quote is often originally attributed to former UCLA coach Red Sanders, so it's likely the California film makers borrowed it for "Trouble."
It's a poignant yet funny movie.

This was the single biggest waste of time I've ever had in my life. It wasn't just the worst movie I've EVER seen which it undoubtedly was but my time would have been better spent cutting my toe nails or reading the National Enquirer. The fact that someone could put this on any sort of "best" list is insane IMO.

ESPN's documentary on "the U" was pretty good. I caught it the other night on ESPN Classic. The athletes that were on those Miami teams in the 80s and 90s were amazing.
