I was wondering what do you think a person needs to understand in terms of coaching quarterbacks (example biomechanics, passing concepts etc...) to be an extremely successful quarterback coach.

Depends on the offense.

Are you asking for good resources or just what one should know?
If you're aksing for resources, buy Darin Slack's C-4 DVD set. It's great stuff.
As far as coaching QB's it's the same standard as any other position. Become and expert on drops, upper body mechanics, reads, leadership, ball handling, defensive recognition, etc.

Footwork, Mechanics, and reading defenses. They have to be able to identify coverages, read safetys and make proper pre-snap reads. There are countless other things. The Slack DVD's are great resources, Amazon.com has a lot of books on QB coaching as well.

Depends on the offense. Veer QB's need to be experts at reading the DL. R&S Qbs need to be experts at reading the secondary, etc
