Group A game on Saturday. Smallest division in VA.
JI Burton vs. Holston
Was 0-0 with 3 minutes to go. JI Burton blocks punt out of endzone to go up 2-0.
Holston drives down the field to set up a 40ish yard field goal as time expires to win the game and it is blocked.
2-0 Final
Lowest scoring playoff game in VA History
Man I wish I was there.

Ha and I was looking forward to seeing a score like 72-69! I dunno, 2-0? Not my fav type of game to watch... Et tu' coaches... I'm so sick of so called fans... reducing the greatest game ever down to td's! There's so much more to this game, that to belittle it to the point of thinking its not worthwhile, unless a 1000 pts are scored is not only a disservice, but a travesty. If you can't appreciate the finer details of a 0 to 0 slugfest.... then what are you doing? 55 to 54 tells me somethings really wrong. 0 to 0 tells me something strategic is going on... Can't believe fellow coaches can't find the value in a defensive execution fest... its the essence of football!

Well I guess we are not blessed with a genius football mind like you Khalfie!
I have seen many low scoring games. Some have been great. But most have been boring. The packers - ravens game is 3-0, kind of boring.
Be honest, most low scoring games are not because the D is so good but because th O's are not clicking. Weather this time of year can keep some scores down.
It is much more uncommon to see a score like 72-66 in the playoffs now than it is to see a 6-0 game.
So get off your pedastal and try to be open minded to another point of view...

2-0 is an awesome score. Count me among those that was hoping the Pittsburg-Miami Monday night game a few years ago ended in a 0-0 tie. I love a defensive game, as long as the 3rd downs are mostly 3rd-and-4, not 3rd-and-23

The game actually was a very good one, others on my staff went to it. It was like two heavy weights trading punches, and then at the end of the game with a minute left the knockout came....

Its tough to appreciate great defense unless: a.) Your team's offense is running up the points while your defense is shutting them out or b.) You've coached defense and can appreciate what great defense looks like.
Not to pick a fight Rooster, IMHO defense wins games, having an o-line that can get you first downs when you have to have 'em wins championships.

I thought it was going to be about one of those crazy high scores made possible by adding in the scores of many frames of tiebreaker, post-regulation.

Well I guess we are not blessed with a genius football mind like you Khalfie! No shame in that... many aren't! Be honest, most low scoring games are not because the D is so good but because th O's are not clicking. Weather this time of year can keep some scores down. This is the antithesis to my point... No... most low scoring games are definitively due to good defenses stopping rudimentary offenses. With all the scouting, the limited strategies of high school offenses... its quite easy for a good to great defense to shut down a good offense. Most state champions have outstanding defenses that hold the majority of their opponents to low double digits or less. Its not until the playoffs that they usually run into an offense that can put points on the board against them! Now you have a state championship... two obviously outstanding teams... and you want to claim the weather? You want to say the offenses were off? C'mon CC... and its me that should have an open mind? It is much more uncommon to see a score like 72-66 in the playoffs now than it is to see a 6-0 game. So get off your pedastal and try to be open minded to another point of view... No... I won't get off of my pedestal... I like it up here... keeps me away from the riff raff! Open minded to another point of view? I think the vast majority of fans, prefer the higher scoring games... I believe its my view that is the "other point of view!"
