So i am watching this game right now, a couple minutes left in the game tied at 38-38. GREAT GAME
but i have just been noticing ALL pitt is running is power. FB kick out, G pulls and leads. They have been pounding Cincy all game long running this and Cincy hasnt been able to handle it for the most part. They will go from I, or bring a TE in motion and become the kick out block. So they are mixing the looks up a little but, it is still Power over and over again. Literally they had to have run it 25 times or more.

And Pitt just scores the go ahead TD with less than 2 minutes to go... Anyone wanna guess what play it was...

great comeback by Cincy, sad to see Pitt have to lose this game on a botched PAT.

Thats just about all you see in the NFL other than zone.. I agree, i was just shocked that Cincy didnt really have an answer for it all day

Pitts only answer for Cincy's offense was Cincy's QB throwing INT's!
I really like Cincy's chances in a BCS game!

Pitt's Back was shy of 200 yards rushing with 3 TDs.
Cinci's QB had over 300 yards passing...
And all that really mattered was an hold on PAT

Just got home from that game, special teams in this game were horrible. I would be amazed if Pitt's special teams coach was around for their bowl.

I've noticed this trend the past few weeks as well. Stanford and UConn both beat Notre Dame running almost nothing at all other than Power. Its scary how simple some teams running games are schematically, yet they are so tough to defend.

How do you run bump and run coverage against 2 of the better receivers in the league with 39 seconds left to go in the game. I am really baffled by some of the calls both defensively and offensively that I've seen in games this weekend.

Pitt also gashed Cincy a couple times with an outside "pin and pull" stretch play pulling the play side guard and ending up outside the numbers.
Pitt's back is incredible!

I wonderded if they didnt' wear Dion Lewis out in the first half. He had almost 30 touches midway through the 3rd quarter. He had close to 50 touches on the game. Thats quite a few expecially for a frosh.

We run power a ton and I always tell our players, they know what we do they just don't know how we do it. If a team can' stop a play then why not keep running it. On a game note I don't think Pitt wore their back out, he did score with like 40 seconds left to give them the lead and was still running strong on that final drive.

He had 2 fumbles in the second half that I wondered if he was just getting worn down. Maybe he wasn't. AFter the first quarter he was on pace for 68 touches on the game.

We can work on it a little on Thursday!" How many times have you heard that! "Hope you sensed the sarcasm because I was laying it on pretty thick"

I was at the game. Huge Pitt fan and brokenhearted. Great game great atmosphere. Pitt ran the ball 50+ times without running one iso to my recollection. Wow. For Pitt the head coach is the special teams coach. He will still be around. But 60,000+ thought kicking deep was a bad idea. Only the 11 on the field thought they should give the Ginyard kid a cahnce.

I was going to get on here this morning and write how amazed I was that Pitt only ran Power in the 4th quarter. I guess Pitt was saying in their mines..."We are going to run it until you stop us and then we are going to run it some more."

Bearcats and Panthers definitely put some excitement back into the kicking game - somewhat inadvertently, of course.
