Do any of you not use a dynamic warm-up or stretching period prior to practice? If not, is there a liability issue if a kid gets injured? I would like to use my time as efficiently as possible and would like to use more football specific drills. I saw somewhere that a team did a tackling progression as a warm-up and would like some ideas.

Cannot say anything to the liability issue, but I started a completely new team last season, and we went without classic warmups.
We have a 15 minute Routine-Session for each position. Linemen do jog-thrus, emphasising proper technique in runblocking and passblocking. Receivers jog an catch balls from different angles, QBs have a throwing progression, and so on.
Compared to former teams I coached, injury numbers were quite the same, but we had more repetitions in catching, throwing, blocking, etc. We only avoided full-speed drills and hard cuts.

We typically started with O Indy each day as our warmup
OL did Block Progressions on the boards
RB did handoff drills
QB/WR did Pat and Go.
It saved us a lot of time and we never had a pulled muscle injury during the season. The one negative we all talked about was how we didnt get together at the beginning of practice as a "team" like typical warmups.
Next season we are going back to a short Dynamic Warmup with a very short Static stretch just so we're all together and everyone can get into "practice mode"

we do team dynamic warm up.
you could do it as a indy/group thing, have done that before.
cnun- you could do what we do, we have a short 'pre-practice' with the O and D seperate, just a short walk thru/install/teaching session. Then we get together for our dynamic warm up as a team. then we go straight to getting after it. Basically - Ready, Set, GO!

We have a pre-practice period where all the specialist (Kickers, punters, returners etc.) work and O and D line work on steps. Then we have a team dynamic stretch (takes about 15min) I have thought about warming up by position but have like having the whole team together during that time.
